Re: Fox 5 news at 10--wedding related
Their Money saving suggestions:1. Ask vendors for a quote before telling them you are a bride. Tell them your are throwing a party. Then tell them you are a bride and try to get them to stick to that quote.
2. Say no to cake cutting fees.
Skip fondant icing...doesn't taste as good and is more expensive. Opt for buttercream frosting...cheaper and tastes better.
3. Dress....don't pay rush charge. Shop around for someone who won't charge you to rush order. Shop where there are labels on the dress so you can compare prices. Use tailor instead of boutique seamstress to save money.
4. Use black limo instead of white.
5. ASK FOR DISCOUNTS!!!

Re: Fox 5 news at 10--wedding related
Here were the tips how to avoid hidden charges.. I think I got them all...(1) When you go to a DJ/BAND tell them you are asking for a quote for a PARTY not a wedding. Once they give you the lower rate they will need to lock it in when you tell them its your wedding
(2) Ask for a black limo (cheaper than white)
(3) Always negotiate prices, otherwise you won't get a discount
(4) Go to boutiques that keep dress maker labels on the dress so you can comparison shop (alought a lot of fancy places rip labels off so you cant!)
(5) Use a tailor for alterations as opposed to boutique
(6) DONT use fondant frosting (it is more expensive and doesn't taste good) buttercream is cheaper/tastier
(7) Decline any RUSH charges for your dress

Maybe I am new at this but is that type of cake THAT much more expensive that it could have an effect on your entire wedding budget? I can see cutting costs with limo colors but cake? How much more could it be? Anyone? Fill me in please.

That is a good book! One of my co-workers passed on all of her wedding stuff to me after I got engaged, and that book was one of the best finds in the bunch.

Good question...How much more could it possibly cost?

Re: Fox 5 news at 10--wedding related
Expensive!!! I was recommended to this lady from someone that I work with..she was like oh she will take care of you ...so I get a quote from her which was $7 per SLICE!!! So if you have 180 people at the wedding....thats a lot of money
ANd this was her discount...its usually 10 dollars or more a slice! I mean the cakes were beautiful but I don't know

Wow, per slice? I have never been to a wedding where people kvell that much about a wedding cake enough to pay $7 a slice. The slices are so small anyway. I don't plan on having a Viennese table or chocolate fountain because spending money on desserts IMO is silly. I'd rather have an extra few pages in my wedding album or an extra piece in my band. I plan on having cake and rolling dessert carts or petit fours.
