Re: How to go about blocking hotel rooms

It's actually the most simple process of all. Decide on hotels you're considering and call each one. Explain that you'd like to block rooms for your wedding (they'll usually transfer you to their sales dept).

Ask how many rooms can be blocked and if you are responsible for any blocked rooms which aren't booked. The Melville Marriott allows you to block 20 rooms without being responsible for any that are not booked. As rooms are booked, you can add additional rooms, based upon availability.

Re: How to go about blocking hotel rooms

You can also see if they will be abled to provide you with a shuttle to make it easer on your guest - and just make sure that what ever you don't use you don't have to pay for cause I do know that the Hyatt holds you responsible ...your Hall might even have a hotel and contact person - they will give you cards to include with you invitations letting you guest know that you blocked them out -

Happy planning

Re: How to go about blocking hotel rooms

Kim, are you going to use the Huntington Hilton? It's like 10 mins from the Carlyle. I already blocked mine, it was so easy. Call and tell them you want to block rooms for whatever nights, the amount of rooms, then they will email you the agreement, you can print it out, sign it, and fax it back. You don't have to put any $$ down.

ETA: The Hilton lets you block up to 30 rooms w/o you being financially responsible for them.

Sorry, keep forgetting stuff, I had to wait until a year before the wedding to do this (no earlier) BUT, call them anyway so they keep you in mind. They actually called me to do the booknig when the time came.
