Jack and Jill shower whats your opinion

My fiance and I are thinking of doing this type of shower. Has anyone done it? How did it go over? Did you have a great time? Did the guest like it?
Who do you invite then???

Re: Jack and Jill shower whats your opinion

We thought about it. This is what we decided:

-DH wanted nothing to do with it.
-Most men want nothing to do with it.
-Its a party like the wedding then. There really isn't anything that much different.
-Something special about having women all together.

Agree with all these points. Boys don't want to do a shower.

Re: Jack and Jill shower whats your opinion

If you had an E-party, then definately don't do it. If not, it's not a big deal if your FH actually wants to participate...but like the other girls said, most men don't want to.

Re: Jack and Jill shower whats your opinion

Lullabella had a jack and jill shower and it was soooooooooo much fun. We still laugh that it was a the first REALLY fun shower we ever went too LOL. My husband was working so while i could have brought a friend I went alone and met all the GM ( I already knew the BMs). It was fun! Its definitly not traditional, actually kind of reminds me of an engagement party but its really fun when everyone gets in on it and for them, they had a huge group of girls and guys they were friends with forever and they wanted all of them to be there.

Re: Jack and Jill shower whats your opinion

We didn't have an e-party and had a Jack N Jill shower. It was so much fun! It was defiantely not traditional at all. We didn't open presents, had kegs and by the end of the night were doing keg stands and singing karaoke! Everyone had such a great time.

My husband and I grew up together and have a tight group of friends from childhood so we definately wanted everyone there. We had about 120 people.

Definately go for iT!

ETA: Thanks beth! I am so glad you had FUN!

Re: Jack and Jill shower whats your opinion

Yeah he is the one that mentioned it to me. He was like how much fun would it be.. He said ill bring the DJ equipment, and we can have games going on and just the Groomsmen and family and friends about 80 people.. He is like I want to open up the presents we registered together for etc.

I have never been to one so I didnt know how it all works.

But he has been involved with the wedding 110% evreything he has a say about.

Re: Jack and Jill shower whats your opinion

I think if you are not having an engagement party, it's a great idea-- sounds like tons of fun-- but if you do have an e-party, it would probably be a little redundant.

Re: Jack and Jill shower whats your opinion

We are having one (didn't have an engagement party). But ours won't be a typical 'shower.' We are having it at a relative's house and it will be a casual BBQ. FH's family and my family have not met, so we thought it would be a nice way to introduce everyone.

Re: Jack and Jill shower whats your opinion

i've hosted one and attended one-both great! the one i hosted was a luau and since the couple had a bunch of mutual friends it made sense. the other was hosted by my friend's FMIL and it was a country BBQ for all of her friends and his friends...a good time!

Re: Jack and Jill shower whats your opinion

My MOH went to a Jack and Jill said she loved it and had fun, I would rather the traditional shower and then FH and my dad and his dad can come at the end, to say hi to everyone, eat and mingle..

Re: Jack and Jill shower whats your opinion

Ive said it before and I'll say it again. None of FH's friends give a rat's patootie if we get Lenox or Wedgewood. They don't care about Waterford or Gorham. They just want beer and a TV set. I am not having an engagement party or a Jack and Jill shower. He will have his day and I will have mine. THEN we will have ours. JMO

I suggested this as a baby shower to DH and he said NO WAY....the guys get bored....

you might as well set up a bar and a big tv in another room for them
