Are you putting the real start time of your church ceremony on your invite?
My ceremony starts at 3pm. Co-workers are telling me I should put 2:30pm on the invite.

I think your coworkers gave you some good advice. Our renewal starts at 11:30, but we put 11:00. That way even if people are running 'late', they'll still be there before it actually starts. People strolling in and trying to find seats while you're walking down the aisle would kind of stink.

i'm putting the real time. If i got invited to a wedding and they lied to me about when it actually started, i'd be pissed that i was sittting around waiting for it to begin.

I put the real time too. I get annoyed when I am 'punished' for being on time by being forced to wait for the latecomers. I also figured my ceremony started at 3:30 on a Sunday, so most people should be able to arrive on time and most people did.

I am making my own invites - so I am putting the real time EXCEPT for my aunt and uncle who have ruined every surprise party in the past 20 years and pulled up into the parking lot as we were all leaving the church after my uncle got married!

Re: Are you putting the real start time of your church ceremony on your invite?
i certainly put a half hour earlier because my hall will be giving champagne and strawberries to all our guests before the ceremony..i think it leaves people feeling embarrassed if they walk in 5 minutes late to a wedding and everyone stares at them..at least this will give them time if they are running late. traffic and every thing else that can happen, a run in the stocking a phone call..at least you're giving them time to be on time..jmo

Exactly. This happenned to us recently. We made plans for the gap between church and reception and it shrank by 45 minutes because they put an earlier time on their invites.

real time... but there's no mass after us, so even if we start a few minutes late, it's okay.

That's what I was thinking. I usually try to arrive 15 minutes early, and if I was sitting around for 45 minutes I'd be angry!!

Re: Are you putting the real start time of your church ceremony on your invite?
No, I wanted to put the real time, or at least only lie by 15 minutes. FH and everyone else convinced me to lie by 30 minutes. So the invites say 6:30 but it really starts at 7.

Real time. Hopefully they will all be on time, but I agree. No need to make those who are on schedule wait.

Re: Are you putting the real start time of your church ceremony on your invite?
Nope. We've lied and put a fake start time for our ceremony on our wedding invitations. We did this to get our guests into our ceremony site on time. We put 1/2 hour earlier than our actual start time. We put 3pm in our wedding invitations when in truth our ceremony really starts at 3:30pm. Sadly, in a city where 'time is money' there are people who cannot arrive on time to events, meetings, etc.It was a good decision. NO regrets!

Re: Are you putting the real start time of your church ceremony on your invite?
I'm lying by 15 minutes. The catering hall is having me walk at 11:15. I put 11 am on the invites. Coffee will be served to guests as they arrive starting at10:45.
