If you sent invitations to the President and/or Pope...

This is kind of a silly question, but I am not sure what is proper...did you send just the main invitation or did you send the extras (reception, rsvp, etc?).

Re: If you sent invitations to the President and/or Pope...

I sent an invite with RSVP card to the President. I just wanted the extra precaution there for them to see the return address. I didn't send the reception card, though. I got back a small card in September. It's nice, but small. It has the seal of the US in gold embossed on it and a brief, pre-printed 'congratulation' message with signature from President and Mrs. Bush

I didn't send anything to the Pope because my officiant was my mother's cousin who is a Catholic Bishop. He does all of the family weddings and as a gift, presents the bride and groom with the beautiful certificate from the Vatican at the end of the wedding ceremony. I still need to have it framed thout...It's pretty big, like 16 by 20 and has our names done in Calligraphy (the entire text is actually in calligraphy). Unfortunately, my maiden last name was spelled wrong . But, most people don't even notice.

You can send an invite to the President for any special occasion. We sent one when my grandma turned 80 (she's 93 now, and still lives by herself).

Anyway, she said that she got the same kind of card that I got for the wedding, but her's had a different message.

The wedding one is a 4x6 ivory card, with the gold seal on the top. Here is the message:

Congratulations to you both on this wonderful day. Your marriage is a celebration of your love and commitment to each other. May this deep and meaningful bond provide strength and friendship in the years ahead.

Sincerely,
George Bush Laura Bush

Our names and address were hand written on the outside envelope.

What if a gay couple sent them an invitation to a committment ceremony?
Just curious.

Re: If you sent invitations to the President and/or Pope...

If you want to get a card from the president there is a link you can go on and just fill out a form. I did it for my grandfathers 80th birthday and he loved it!!

I'd be interested to know whether they would send a card to them as well...

My guess? (Without stating my political opinion of course ) a big fat NO.

We sent them. My FMIL is a big fan of the Pope and my parents are republicans:
