Ladies who are having a band...

What do you plan to do when the band takes a break? Will you have other music to play?

My band plays two 1.5hr sets, with like a 15 min break inbetween! Then after, we'll have a DJ, but he's not coming until late in the band's set.

Does anyone else have to figure out that problem? My dad says it will be fine, in Ireland they do that all the time and no one cares. But I care! I don't want people to stop dancing or leave!

Any suggestions?

Re: Ladies who are having a band...

I had it written in my contract that there will be continuous live music the entire evening. I have been to weddings where the band takes a break and plays recorded music and no one stopped dancing!

Re: Ladies who are having a band...

Ok. Looks like I'm going to have to look into the playing recorded music. I know that the room has a sound system so even if I provide something myself...I just don't want there to be silence...that would be awful!

Re: Ladies who are having a band...

in my contract it also says continuous music- there is to always be at least one person playing....however because we want more typical hispanic music- cumbia, merenge, bachata- FH is going to make a CD of that music so during one of the breaks that will play-

Re: Ladies who are having a band...

We had CDs playing in between. The breaks were pretty short though. You have to have people sit down for the courses that come out or otherwise people would get soup or pasta spilled all over them as the servers would come out with hot food!

Same here...are you sure they don't leave one or two band members playing low music?

Re: Ladies who are having a band...

our band will also be providing continues music, but I wouldn't worry about people leaving...if you feel that nervous about it maybe you can speak to your band and find out if they can provide something for the break times.
good luck!

Re: Ladies who are having a band...

The bands usually coordinate their breaks with the meal and 'down-time' and pop in recorded music. My brother is a musician so I may have him play a few songs during a break.

Re: Ladies who are having a band...

My band does acoustic on breaks with one band member on the guitar and one singer or they play CD's when they need a break.
