Jewish Brides w/ Kosher Catering
Does a kosher wedding cake taste bad? All the kosher cakes I've had have been holiday cakes, never anything with frosting. How does it taste?

Re: Jewish Brides w/ Kosher Catering
If your wedding is truly kosher and not 'kosher style', the cake will not be made with any dairy (assuming you are having a meat meal). IMO, kosher desserts never thrill me, but it is part of the territory of many Jewish weddings. In the grand scheme of things, I don't think it is a big deal as the slices are generally small. And unless the cake is just purely horrid, no one is really going to remember it. I am not a fan of catered kosher food though as of late, many caterers are quite progressive in their styles and presentations.

Re: Jewish Brides w/ Kosher Catering
It truly depends, i've had awful kosher catered food, including cake, and then I've had food that tasted like it came from a top restaurant. I love my caterer and his food is top notch, so I'm not worried, you should get feedback about your caterer and try a tasting and then you should know what to expect from your cake

Depends on the caterer. We had some many other desserts and I would have remembered if it was really bad, but I don't think it was. Nobody complained and my family would have! It was Kosher in a Conservative Temple.

Re: Jewish Brides w/ Kosher Catering
I have the same caterer as Blu-ize but it is in a different location and they use dairy with dessert. It is kosher food but it is a reform place, so they will bring out the dairy dessert after the meat course is off all the tables.I decided not to stress about cake. Having other dessert on the menu has taken some stress off b/c I know there will be something for everyone.

I had kosher catering, and a pareve cake, and I thought it was delicious! When you have a good caterer, you really don't notice that the desserts have no dairy in them.

I don't know too much about any specific kosher caterers, but as a vegetarian, and soymilk enthusaist, there is a LOT you can do with non dairy products!

Re: Jewish Brides w/ Kosher Catering
I have a Kosher Viennese table, with Ice cream
. (I don't know what that was made of!) Everything was great! The cakes are wonderful! If it's a good caterer, it shouldn't matter. Welcome New Vendors
