Now that you're out in the big world...

...do you use the same phrases you used with your family...?

Like I never realized how region-specific the words 'couch' or 'pocketbook' were, so now I find myself saying 'sofa' and 'purse'

In a way I feel like I'm selling out But does anyone say pocketbook anymore??!?!

I still use pocketbook, but I know my dad use to make fun of me for always using the work 'like'. I used it in every sentence, so being in the 'grown up' world now, I find I don't use it anymore. Except of course when talking to my dad, just to annoy him.

I still say 'pocketbook' and also 'pantyhose'. 'Purse' sounds too frumpy
And 'hose' just sounds weird. I don't know why I prefer 'pantyhose' because I hate 'panty'!

And down here in VA they say 'tennis shoes' instead of 'sneakers'. I still use sneakers though.
