I need your help w/ a very serious matter (sort of wedding related) ...

Would you postpone your wedding if a very very close relative of yours or your fiancee has a very delicate and complicated health issue that wouldn't be resolved by your wedding date and requires a lot of attention from you?

I am going through a similar situation, and although it's too early to make such a drastic decision, I would like to know if there's anyone out there that can relate to this or can offer some advice for me.

I can't relate personally. but, it depends on the issue. If the person was going to recover, I would postpone. If it was a terminal type of illness, I would want that person to be able to celebrate with me, so I wouldn't have pushed the wedding further back.

I can speak personally about this as well. We spoke to the person who had the illness and asked what they wanted us to do.

I have spoken to the person I'm talking about and I know without a doubt that he/she would not allow me to postpone my wedding.

He/she understands that I've been planning my wedding for so long and my FH is very excited for this. But this problem will not go away in a couple of months. It's not terminal, but it's very serious.

Honestly, I don't think I would postpone it. I would go on, and knowing that the person attends (sick but attends) would mean a lot to me. I wouldn't risk them not being able to attend at all...

Also, in a jewish religion, you are not suppose to postpone the wedding no matter what. So, I think for that reason as well, I wouldn't postpone the wedding.

i would do what you feel is right in your heart. i went through this just 2 months ago with my mother who unfortunately lost the battle. fh and i debated back in forth about it but in my heart i knew that she would not want to take away from my day. we decided to keep it where it was and that is what she asked us to do too before she was gone. fm me if you need to talk further about it..it's a very hard decision to make and at times you're going to feel selfish and at other times very altruistic..in the end you'll know you made the right decision.
