I posted this on BHB but just in case you ladies missed it I wanted your ideas.I know people have singers (Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin etc.) I wanted something different but I don't know what. Has anyone been to a wedding that had something different? Any ideas??? Thanks

Re: Repost from BHB: I was thinking of doing something different at my reception
I went to a wedding where during the cocktail hr a magician went around to each table as every dined. I dont want to say magician but a guy who did some card tricks and other things. I thought he was great and was getting applause everytime he was done. I know I enjoyed it and I did see a few people after wedding who mentioned him and they liked it.Just a thought

I took belly dancing for a while ( I LOVE it) and I toyed with the idea of having one at the wedding...Perhaps you have a side of the family would like to honor the heritage of...look up some things of that nature...
I'm not suggesting Dominic the Donkey or Riverdance
- but perhaps there is a wedding custom that you could try.

I was reading in The New Jewish Wedding that it's some old tradition to treat the bride and groom as a king and queen, have someone work as an MC and then have your GUESTS perform for you (sing, dance, etc.). You can ask whoever has some talent to do something for you!

We are doing a Frank Sinatra Singer.I've always wanted to do something like a lounge - not necessarily a smoking lounge or something...but someplace where people can gather and relax if they want.
I've had strolling violnists at cocktail hour, maybe a beautiful singer... the options are endless!
