Marriot or Hyatt in Aruba---HELP!!!

I'm so confused, I don't know where to stay. Any thoughts? I've heard that both are great. Also, the Marriott has the all inclusive, should I do this? I've heard you shouldn't in Aruba b/c there are so many great places to eat. However, FSIL stayed at the Marriot w/all inclusive and said their checks were so much $$ that she wouldn't stay there unless she did all inclusive again. I've been researching them both so much that my head is starting to spin!! Please give me your recommendations!!!

TIA

Re: Marriot or Hyatt in Aruba---HELP!!!

When I went on my HM, I am so glad that we did not do all inclusive. We went to so many wonderful restaurants that all inclusive would of been a waste for us. All inclusive is great if you drink alot, IMO.

Re: Marriot or Hyatt in Aruba---HELP!!!

We are going, but staying at the Bucuti most probably. I have always wanted to stay at the Hyatt, but have heard it is in need of a renovation inside. Their grounds are beautiful though.

A lot of people have told me the Radisson is beautiful too.

I do not think it needs a renovation. I was just there in Sept and it was beautiful.

Re: Marriot or Hyatt in Aruba---HELP!!!

Hi there-
I stayed at the Marriott and had the all-inclusive plan. We still went out to a few dinners to go to the restaurants we wanted. I highly recommend doing this. Aruba is very expensive and we saved a lot more $$ w/ the plan. We're drinkers though so it was worth it to us.

FM me if you have any questions. The Hyatt was nice too, went to see Octbride03, since we were on the same plane. Had a few drinks at their pool. I thought they were done w/ their rennovations...

Re: Marriot or Hyatt in Aruba---HELP!!!

Im also checking all the hotels in aruba. I found tripadvisor.com to be very useful. There are reviews of people that have stayed there. I was looking into the marriott ocean club and the marriott surf club. There have been a couple of complaints regarding the major construction interfering with the pool area. Also a major complaint is how expensive the food and drinks are, so I would advise going with the all inclusive. Definitely check out tripadvisor, though.

Re: Marriot or Hyatt in Aruba---HELP!!!

We stayed at the Bucuti, which is in the low rise section (which I would totally recommend, but his was not your question), but we did go over to the high rise section to check out the other hotels. The Marriot is HUGE and it seemed to have a lot to offer simply because it is a bigger place. Their beach seems to be a bit bigger as well.

The Hyatt, on the other hand was really beautiful and seemed a bit more 'upscale.' As far as all inclusive, I think if you are not drinkers (which we are not) the all inclusive might not be worth it. The other thing I would consider is whether or not you are going to restaurant meals for every meal. If so, the all inclusive might be worth it. We ended up doing Dunkin Donuts or bagels mostly for breakfast and sometimes a very light lunch. If you think you will eat big meals besides dinner, I think the restaurant bills could rack up.

ETA: When we were there in November, there was MAJOR construction going on at the Marriott and some construction going on at the Wyndham.

Re: Marriot or Hyatt in Aruba---HELP!!!

We stayed at the Marriot on our honeymoon and it was awesome. We got a wrap around balcony and were really happy with the decision.

I found Marriot to be the best on the island because it is actually a hotel and two time shares but the hotel guests can use any part of the time shares. So you have two pools to go to instead of one and two beaches.....

While i found the Hyatt to be nice, it was more expensive and did not have balconys.

We did not do all inclusive, we went to restaurants all over the island and two nights did the cheaper japanese restaurant in the Marriot.

Re: Marriot or Hyatt in Aruba---HELP!!!

I don't want to confuse you, but we're staying at the Renaissance at Aruba. I've posted a few pics from the resort. I've heard nothing but good things about this place, and it has it's own private beach for resort members only! Cool!
