ATTN: Maggie Sottero Brides- Grace dress. I had my first fitting.

So I went for my first fitting this morning.

I forgot my camera so I don't have pics but I realized two things:

1. Does it need a crinoline?-
Yes, it looks much better with a two tiered crinoline. I know a few months ago there was a debate about this. My MOH told me not to spend the money buut she wasn't there this morning.
So to answer your questions- 2 tiered crinoline.

2. Bustle-
I'm a big fan of the French bustle but this dress doesn't really have along enough train so there would only be one tuck under. The seamstress instead pinned the lace up on the outside and it looked much better. Like I said my personal preference is usually French but I think the other style looks better with this particular dress. You may want to try both.

Hope that helps

I would probably do what looks better on the dress. So if the crinoline looks better and the underbustle looks better, I would go with that.

Re: ATTN: Maggie Sottero Brides- Grace dress. I had my first fitting.

I just got word from Netbride.com that my Maggie-Grace dress was shipped yesterday!! My first fitting will probably be May 21!
Thanks for the advice on the crinoline and bustle. I am borrowing a single and double tier just to see but when I tried it on intially, I liked the double better too!
Take pics at your next fitting.

Also, are you wearing a bra? I wasn't planning on it because the corset holds me in so well but didn't know if a bra would help with lift.

Oh Thank you, my 'Grace' just came in, my fiting is May 12th. I think something under it is definitely a good idea to add fullness. Now I just have to see if I need a bra or anything.

Re: ATTN: Maggie Sottero Brides- Grace dress. I had my first fitting.

I don't know how I missed this post! I am another Maggie Grace Bride. I have the second fitting tomorrow! I also went with the one point bustle lifted up. The French looked weird.... Are you pinning up just the lace or the whole thing?? How are they securing it? Ribbon? Hook? I am concerned because the dress is a bit heavy..

The bra issue I am still trying to decide. I originally wore it with a strapless bra but since it had a lot of padding it made me look bigger(not in a good way). I might try to get cups sewn in.... We will see tomorrow!

Re: ATTN: Maggie Sottero Brides- Grace dress. I had my first fitting.

I know I am not wearing the GRACE- even though it really is my favorite- I just didn't see it til after I bought my dress.
Anyway, I have the Paulette which is the same shape- Aline, not poofy, chapel train. At my fitting my seamstress did a three point bustle- one high in the middle, two a little lower on the sides and it looked awesome and the weight was distributed evenly so I think it will hold better.

Just a thought....
Oh, and I am not wearing a bra with the corset- small chested ones will not need too- I am adding cups.

Re: ATTN: Maggie Sottero Brides- Grace dress. I had my first fitting.

I'm going braless (Don't tell FH ) The corset back is so well made and as long as I'm tied in there right I don't see a need.

They are pinning the lining up underneatht the lace separate and then a second bustle of the lace, slightly higher. Does that make sense?

I never thought to ask if they were using hooks or ribbons?

OK I guess I'll find out soon.
