Went to a wedding at Jericho Terrace last night

DH went to a wedding last night at JT and here's my review. Unfortunately, we missed almost the entire CH because we got stuck in a ton of traffic (we live in Westchester.) Anyway, we loved the CH room, I believe they had the big one- it's the first room on the left. The bar area with the trelace and greenery was beautiful. There was a ton of food served buffet style. The fried artichokes were slamming, the stuffed clams were good, the calamari was a little overcooked, a cold pasta with pesto was great. That's pretty much all we had time to taste. I was so disappointed! I didn't notice a single person walking around with passed hors duerves though.
Especially because of the rain, it felt like you saw every other bride who was at JT. It felt like there was a lot of shuffling around and pointing people in the right direction. I heard a couple people mention through the night that they had walked into the wrong party at one point or another.
Then we went to what I believe is the big ballroom. Again, it was a beautiful room. In all fairness it's not my taste at all, but it was beautiful none the less. My friend had beautiful tall CP that made a nice statement as you entered the ballroom. But as the case with most tall CP, they were kind of obtrusive.
They had a DJ with a live percussionist which was pretty cool. They also had the flat screens with slideshows. DH thought that was great until they stopped the party for the third time to watch pictures of the bride and groom growin up. I don't mean to offend anyone, but we found it to be kind of showy and it interupted the flow of the wedding.
They had the fruit appetizer on the table when you entered, then a pasta dish (which could have had more flavor), and a salad (with too much dressing.) As for dinner, DH had the veil and he said it was excellant. I had the shrimp and they were just ok. We heard the fillet was nothng to rave about and the duck was good, but not great. The veggies were kind of room temperature, but everyone seemed to like the potato croquette.
The waiter at our table was top notch. DH and I are heavy drinkers and we never needed to go to the bar once. He brought us everything and kept them coming. He even went downstairs to get us Sambuca for our espresso.
They had a vienese hour and I know my friend was pissed about the way they had done it. They were supposed to do the flaming show and what not and then put the desserts off to the side, but instead they put everything right in the middle of the dance floor, so the whole party had to take an intermission. Everyone had been on the dance floor and the vienese really interefered with the flow of the party. The bride wasa upset because people started leaving around then, meanwhile she had the room for another hour.
Overall we had a great time. The little things that weren't perfect weren't enough to put a damper on a beautiful reception. And since I just got out of the wedding game, and I have so many friends still in it, I do tend to be a little critical when reviewing. I'm sure many people didn't even notice some of the things I did. So all JT brides should feel confident that they will have beautiful, well run weddings.

Thanks for the review! I can see how that type of Vienese hour would ruin the flow. Instead, we are just having dessert trays put on the table, and have an extra hour added onto the reception. Hopefully that will work better. What did the bride and groom have for music? And did you like it?

Thanks from me too! I am definitely not doing the viennese...too much food. Oh, and since there are so many stations and stuff at the CH, there aren't any passed hors d'ouevres.
