started my votive placecards and having issues

I tried the vellum tape, but you can see it and it ain't attractive. Tried the spray glue, and the vellum now has little dots on it (underneath, between the glass and the vellum)

What am I doing wrong???

I used double sided clear tape, you couldn't see it at all.
