Friday Night weddings?
We booked our wedding for a Friday night, and while most of the people we spoke with think this is fine, a few thought we were crazy. We had a choice between Friday night and Sunday, and I thought they were both great. I just really wanted an evening wedding and thought that people could enjoy themselves without thinking about work the next day. Opinions?

Re: Friday Night weddings?
I am having a Friday night wedding and I think it is fine. I know people that are having sunday night weddings but in all honestly I find that to be a pain. I was told by some people that people enjoy friday weddings b/c they have 2 days to relax afterward & tend to party more b/c they have worked all week. Also people might take off on Friday & people always like an extra day off. HOnestly I wouldn't worry about...people will come no matter what.

Re: Friday Night weddings?
I would prefer a Friday night to a Sunday, but unless it was a really good friend, I would probably skip the ceremony.

Re: Friday Night weddings?
Friday night weddings are completely normal nowadays. They're becoming so popular due to the high costs of Saturday nights and the fact that Sunday nights aren't great since most guests will have to go back to work on Monday. So don't worry about what people say about your choice, Fridays are fine!!!

Re: Friday Night weddings?
I think Friday night is better than Sunday, too. I would like it because there are still two days after that to relax.

I went to a Friday night wedding last year. It was a lot of fun. I would prefer to go to a Friday wedding and not worry about work the next day.

Friday night weddings are great because then you have two days to recover after partying!

We had a Friday night wedding. Since we did not HM right away and had to return to work the next Monday it was nice to have a 'wedding weekend'.

Re: Friday Night weddings?
My wedding is on a Friday night and that was FH and my choice. We could have had the Saturday, but we've enjoyed all the Friday night bashes we've attended. And you have the entire weekend to recoup!

We did the exact same thing for the same reason! Everyone is excited about our wedding and a few are even planning to have a bit of a party back at the hotel afterward b/c its Friday night and no work the next day!!

Re: Friday Night weddings?
I'd definitely prefer to go to a Friday night wedding then a Sunday. One of FH's friend had his on a Friday. We couldn't make it to the church but we made it to cocktail hour just fine.

people will always have something to complain about... if you want to have a friday nite wedding, then do it!
maybe i just don't care about my job that much, but work is just that, WORK. a wedding is a once in a lifetime (hopefully) event.

You can't please everyone. No matter what night you choose, there will always be people who won't like it. Remember that it's YOUR day! I think Friday night weddings are fine.

Re: Friday Night weddings?
People will ALWAYS have something to say. Basically, the difference is 6 of one, 1/2 dozen of the other. There are good and bad reasons for each part of the week or weekend!!!!I'm having a Jewish wedding on a Sat. night. By religious rules, it must start after sundown. People have actually complained that it will end too late. Not that these people have anywhere to go the next day. So, I've finally become REALLY obnoxious and told them that I will look into having the Sabbath changed so that they don't have to stay up late on my wedding night.

Re: Friday Night weddings?
I was between Friday and Sunday and I really think both are fine.I woundup with Sunday bc of the time the ceremony on Friday would be at the church. I just went to a wedding on a Friday and the traffic getting to the church was unbeleiveable. No-1 was even there.
We also had a lot of out of town guests (my dad's family and they thought Sunday would be easier for them to make up.)
I was worried about people working the next day- just like I was worried about people not going to church bc of work on a Friday but to me, Sunday worked out better.
IMO- the people that love you will be there....

We are having a Friday night wedding and love the idea b/c people have the whole weekend to themselves afterwards. Nothing wrong with it.

I am having a Friday evening wedding too...I know that some friends & co-workers will not make it to the church & that is fine...The people that mean the most to me will be there...Our CH starts at 7...As a guest, I would prefer a Friday evening over a Sunday evening...I went to a Sunday evening wedding recently & many people were leaving by 9PM due to the fact that they had to work the next day

Its your day! Some of our guests thought we were crazy for having the reception area 45 minutes from the church, and yes people say things and I'm sure that they say things behind our backs...but who cares we are happy with our decision! Period!Welcome New Vendors
