2/19/05 Metrpolitan Review (pics throughout....some more reviewing on pg. 2 and a link to album on pg 2 as well

I've been putting this off forever and now that my 3 mth anniversary is speedily approaching I feel I need to get this started

The Metropolitan A+++++
Everything was perfect! The food was excellent at the cocktail hour, even though I didn't get to eat any of it, and at the reception. The made us a sampler plate to so we were able to try a little of everything.
Our Maitre De and Bridal Attendant were super attentive. I never had to ask for anything. My glass was always full.
DH has very serious food allergies and they were excellent about making sure nothing at our wedding might potentially kill him! We were allowed to come in an hour before the CH started to take family pictures free of charge AND they even provided us and our guests with drinks and food! I can not stress enough how happy I was with them. I know that a lot of people don't get married at the Metropolitan from this site but it's worth a visit!

Oh and I have to mention the cake. It was delicious! And beautiful. We got so many compliments on it!

Church - St. Kevin's RC Church (Flushing) A+
What can I say about St. Kevin's? I was baptised there. My parents were married there. I could not have gotten married anywhere else. Plus it's got a ridiculously long aisle that would make any bride smile!

Photographer - Jovon A
(also video but I don't have anything to grade them on yet)

As you can see by the pictures so far Matthew and Giovanni (Jovan's son) did an excellent job. Matthew did our engagement pictures too with I loved. I did not give him a must have list and i could kick myself because I did miss a few shots. Everyone tells you too do it and I should have listened. Our proofs, all 800 of them, were ready for us before we got back from our honeymoon. I had a message on my cell when we landed!

Here are some I really liked!

DJ - A Starry Night B+

To be fair most of the 'problems' we had with Gabriella were my fault. I got so confused the last week before the wedding about who needed what that I did not give her the list of songs for particular things, like announcing the parents, BP and us, and the last dance. We were super p*s*ed when she didn't play the songs we thought we had requested and she was very apologetic but it turns out we never got them. That said you'd have thought she would have asked us what we wanted. But her placement of certain songs was odd, Superstision by Steve Wonder during dinner, and her accent was AWFUL. We had met withher before hand but I guess it is just magnified with PA's and mic's and stuff. Long story short think long and hard about getting a DJ with an accent other than your own. People kept asking what she was saying.

dress Diamond Bridal (now out of business) purchased and altered at Charmet in Bayside
A+

Dress was excellent. The obviously ordered it immediatley in January (2004) because it was in by thjat summer and thank GOD! Diamond bridal went out of business shortly before my dress arrived. Everyone at Charmet was really nice and the seamstress was an absolutel doll. I found my dress at Macy's in Manhassat but I bought it at Charmet for $800 cheaper and the alterations were included.

Hair and Make-Up
Michael from the Jewel Box A

What can I say he made me look and feel like a princess. You can see in some of the above pictures his handy work. Let me see if I can find some more to show me off. I've only scanned about 40 of my 800 proofs!
The reason I didn't give him an A+ was because for all that money ($300 for both) he darn well had better be that good and his assistant lady was really annoying!

2/19/05 Metrpolitan Review

Limo B- M&V

I'm having a hard time grading this one. We had the 8 passanger caddie pick up DH, his Mom and the guys in Brooklyn and bring them to the church. We had the Escalade bring me and my posse to the church. Both cars were well stocked, clean and on time if not early. I did encounter a little problem with the Escalade window that would not go up. A problem in February when it is ubber cold! I did eventually get it to go up. We had the 30 passanger bus make 2 trip from the hotel to the hall which went off without a hitch. BUT when it was time for the bus to come back and pick everyone up there was no bus! Apparently it had broken down sometime between dropping the guest off and the end of our reception. M&V made good by sending a Hummer to transport our guest but I was really bummed. I wanted to ride in the bus! As for our ride to the airport that was a nightmare! The limo (nice perk since we only had contracted for a town car) was 45 minutes late. It was snowing so I'll cut the guy a little slack but 45 minutes!! Oh and it was 4AM! Yikes! Luckily the guy got us to the airport with plenty of time and we would have paid a lot more for a cab but it was so annoying that he was so late!

I have some pictures of the Escalade and bus at home which I'll posted from there.

You saw them they were gorgeous

Favor's AJ Party Center A
not an A+ because they were more like votive candle holders than shot glasses but the price was excellent and Karen was very nice to work with.

Tues - Tuxes By Flowerama (Forest Hills) A

I'm not sure what could go wrong with tuxes (I never would have said that 3 mths ago) but nothing did with ours. They were very nice and took my brother's measurements over Christmas when he was in from San Diego. We ever got a little discount because DH's cousin, who got married in June also used them. He recognized them as being all the same guys from his wedding.
