When you first went to look for dresses, were you afraid that...
You would accidentally rip or ruin a dress? I am so clumsy, and I am short so I know all the dresses will be long on me. I'm also worried about zippers, I would hate to get one stuck. Do the bridal salon ladies help you with the dresses, or does the person you go with typically help you get into them?

Those dresses on the hangers are so abuse, I wouldn't worry. I tore a dress that had a small rip in it already and the sales girl said it was no big deal - it happens.

Unless you go to Davids- if you go there bring someone with you! We started out with the employee helping us, but then as more people came in, she was really just getting dresses for me and my sister was helping me, which I preferred anyway.

When I went to the bridal place last time the ladies were really busy so my sister helped me in and out of the dress. Well when she went to unzip it, she didn't zip it all the way down. I went to take it off and I hear a loud rip. Just then the lady from the bridal place walked into the dressing room. I was so embarassed but she said don't worry about it. So many people have tried them on they're bound to get ripped.

Thanks girls! I feel better. I've just never tried a wedding dress on, and I will be this summer. So I just dont' know what to expect. My MOH and most likely my FMIL iwill go with me, so if I need help (like at David's Bridal) I will have it.

The dresses i tried on were so grimy in the first place, i wasn't worried about it.I got my dress at RK Bridal in the city, and they were so helpful. There is an attendant who helps you in and out of each and they're pro's so your not trying to figure out how each one works.
The try on dresses are there for that purpose, so don't worry about it!
Have fun!

Re: When you first went to look for dresses, were you afraid that...
yeah you'll be fine with the dresses - they're the floor samples so who cares if you rip something! just be firm with the ladies if they are too 'nosy'...the lady wouldn't leave me alone to dress or undress because she thought i'd take pictures of it or something!...ridiculous and kind of violating actually - so be firm if they're too invasive like this.

I went for th 1st time last nite and even with the help...I tripped!I also had platform flipflops on that made it harder to walk in with all the layers.
I was prepared to go but it was fun and of course I laughed a lot.
Plus, they are samples and for that reason.
They dont care!

Re: When you first went to look for dresses, were you afraid that...
Like everyone else said, they help a lot with the dresses. My first outing, I was by myself. And the attendants were very nice. Basically they stuck me in the dressing room with the dress on a hanger, and had me get into it, then open the door a bit to let them know I needed zipping up.Washing the hands is a good idea, also, take off your shoes. I'm a short gal, but thats why they have those box things to stand on by the mirror... just gently lift the skirt to walk without tripping (think how they walk up and down stairs in gone with the wind) and the clerk will help you. Heck, as I was walking in one dress from the dressing room to the mirrors, the attendant holding the back of the dress accidentially stepped on it.
made me less nervous about it all. Rips happen, and I'm sure they are used to it.I ordered my dress at the Bridal & Tuxedo Center in shoram. Partly because of the pretty dress (though there were other shops with dresses I liked) but also BECAUSE the ladies were so nice and helpful. They even let me take pictures to email my out-of-town mom.

Re: When you first went to look for dresses, were you afraid that...
I wasn't really worried about damaging the dress. The first place I went to, the woman stood there while I dressed and undressed and I found this annoying. I didn't really feel comfortable standing there in my underwear with her.
Where I got the dress, I was alone in the changing room and then came out and she helped me zip up and do whatever adjustements were necessary.
