Valuable Items Insurance Rider question for homeowners...

For those with home owners insurance policies, did you add a valuable items insurance rider to your policy to cover your china, crystal, etc? Apparently it is not covered by most policies. We already added my ring, but didn't realize we may have to do this. Any thoughts?
