ok..invite wording for brides paying for their wedding?

this invitation stuff is driving me crazy..im going wed to get them..my question is if fh and i are paying for our wedding then how do we word it? i know my mom is supposedly doing alot of other things for us that i dont know about but i would like to maybe write together with our parents..out of respect..is anyone else doing this and can you show me how you worded your invites? my parents are divorced so im not going to write everyones names..especially since we are paying ..but also i saw some wording in a book that was similar...it started off...'together with OUR parents' and the other one is 'together with THEIR parents' whats the difference? y do they have to confuse you so much...all the little crap is holding me up!!!!!!! need help TIA!

Re: ok..invite wording for brides paying for their wedding?

We are paying for our own wedding and just included our own names as in

Jane A. Doe
& John B. Doeing
invite you to share in a celebration of love
as they exchange their marriage vows...
blah blah blah.....

My parents are also divorced and remarried for a very long time. I don't think they are at all offended or really even care that their various names are not on there.... Good luck

Re: ok..invite wording for brides paying for their wedding?

Ours say :

Together with their families
Bride
and
Groom
request the pleasure of your company (*since we're not getting married in a church, we used 'pleasure' instead of 'honour')
at their marriage...

Re: ok..invite wording for brides paying for their wedding?

Here's what we used...

As the trees burst into color
And the autumn season arrives
We pledge our faith, our love, our lives
We, Lori ....
And Richard .....
Request the honor of your presence
As we begin a lifetime of love
On Sunday, the thirtieth of October
Two thousand and five
At eleven o’clock in the morning
Westbury Manor
Westbury, New York

Re: ok..invite wording for brides paying for their wedding?

We did Together with our Families
Bride's Name
and Groom's Name
request the pleasure of your company...

We wanted to acknowledge our families somehow and not just include our names, though that is how the etiquette books show it.

The etiquette books also say the bride's parents should be listed no matter what, and the bride's maiden name is never included, but I didn't agree with that, and my parents didn't mind the way we worded it, so we went ahead with the above.

Re: ok..invite wording for brides paying for their wedding?

We did:

Together with their parents
bride lastname
and
groom lastname
request the honour
etc......

I don't really know the difference using THEIR or OUR. And I don't know why we chose THEIR.
