Whats wrong with people?!?!?!?!

I just got an email from my cousin that lives in Georgia..... This is what it said... 'My Mom and I rec'd your shower invitations and unfortunately won't be able to be there physically but we'll be thinking of you.'

UM HELLO MCFLY!?!??! Thanks for letting me know my shower invites went out... whats the next email gonna say??? THE DATE OF IT?!?!? !

I KNOW!!! Well I know its in August because my stupid sister told me that yesterday by accident

She was telling me how my niece met some kid (they live in Florida) but that he will be in New York for the entire summer and shes really bummed about it. So she says that she told my niece 'Dont worry, we will be in NY in August and then in September' so I go 'UMMM WHY AUGUST!??!? ' and then complete silence.

So I go 'ummm hello anyone there'???

She goes 'we have been checking flights... obviously if your wedding is in September your shower will be the month before' then proceeds to dig herself deeper into her hole by saying 'You know Diana, money is tight all around and we might not even have a shower for you'

Ok so why are you looking at airfares??

She goes 'can you just pretend we didnt have this conversation?'

I feel your pain. My shower surprise was blown in a similar situation but hey told me the date! What the heck, aren't you supposed to assume that all showers are a surprise??

I dont mind knowing, I mean its obviously going to be one of the weekends in August. I just wish I knew when because I would get to spend more time with my sister and niece that are coming up from Florida. If its on a Sunday and they come up Friday night, I would be able to spend more time with them

But at the same time, I know they are trying to keep it a secret so I am not even going to tell them about my cousin

I dont mind knowing, I mean its obviously going to be one of the weekends in August. people are dumb.. but at least they didn't tell dates. You knew you were having one, You just didn't know when, and you still don't.. So.. don't let that stress you!!! It'll still be a surprise to ya!!

I had a similar situation this weekend at a friends house where she had my invitation out (I DIDN't see it). I found out that my invitation deosn't say surprise on it but other people said you (guests) should assume its a surprise.

The day of my shower one of my friends called me from her cell phone because she was on the way out to my sister's house (she's from brooklyn, my sister is in rocky point) and was lost, and felt stupid calling my sister so wanted me to help her getting there. I ended up meeting her in Farmingdale, leaving her car there, and driving her to my own shower!

My MOH lives in Chicago and grew up in Indiana, and has NEVER heard of a surprise shower and had a reallt hard time grasping the concept. It may just be a regional thing - who knows!

Oh My goodness, I thought this just happened to me. I saw one of my girlfriends Friday and she told me the same thing. Thank god she didn't tell me when and where. My sister so wants to scream o her that she told me.

I didn't really want toknow either!! People are so inconsiderate!

mymom is the braindead one here...she keeps slipping TOTALLY about the planning. she wont let me in her room...and left out an oriental tradng mag with a million hawaiian things circled....
and last night tells my sister (while i am at chilis WITH THEM)..'you have to see the box of stuff that came in its sooo funny!!' i was like MOM IM SITTING here.....she gasped and said i keep forgetting which daughter i do what with!!!!!!!
and FSIL called and i answered and she just said 'oh, i was calling for Bobby(FH)just tell him i called' and hung up...then told FH she freaked cause i wasnt supposed to be there and didnt know what to say to me..HOW ABOUT HELLO!!!
and at AC Moore my mom was like 'nickie look at that card...oooh i have such a great idea!!' ( it was an island/hawaiian card sample) i say,what??? and she goes' oh nevermind i am confused.....YES SHE IS..

i know its in August cause mymom goes away for the month of July, my sister is going to Italy in Sept..and they both are teachers and are CRAZY on weekends with other stuff in sept...so i KNOW its in August
PLUS my yard just had EXTREME MAKEOVEr..new fence, tons of flowers, ponds....tables, tents
But i dont say a word....

My FI actually blew the surprise for me, but it wasn't his fault. Since my MOH didn't know about surprise showers we decided that I would just know about it. then my mom wasnt happy about that so they decided to make it a surprise.

So then one day out pf the blue, my MOH called and told me it was on 7/16. I immediately called my FI to tell him that I think she screwed up by telling me, and then he asked me when it was, so I said 7/16 and he goes, wait a minute, it's not the 16th - and then he got really quiet. The dumbasses never told him that they were giving me the wrong date!!!
