How about a WEEK night party?

DH is shooting down the idea of a 70th Bday party for his mom because our funds are low.

But, a Thursday night party would probably be really doable.

The last 2 parties his family invited us to were on Sunday nights, when we had to go to work the next morning. So, how different from that would a Thursday night be?

Re: How about a WEEK night party?

I think its even easier to skip work on a Friday than on a Monday. So a Thursday party should be fine. What time would you plan it for?

Re: How about a WEEK night party?

I guess that would be ok. If she is 70 wouldnt like a sunday brunch be the same price? Maybe earlier would be better for her also

His price for the Sunday wasn't high, but it's just not doable. We're looking at having 80 people (100 to invite) at $35 per person (after tax and tip). It's a great price, we just won't be able to come up with that and a DJ, etc.

the tough part is making sure that everyone can get there after work. Maybe 7 to 11 would work out better.

Re: How about a WEEK night party?

How many entrees are offered? A few people have said if you are willing to cut back on some of the food they will lower the price.
$35 P/P is a great deal!! Why didnt you get married there?
Plus DJs are ALOT cheaper when its not a wedding.

Maybe you can cut back the guest list? I know thats hard but its the best way to save $$

Well, he was going to have it served 'family styly' with:

1st: antipasto
2nd: pasta
3rd: salad
dinner: 2 selections (each person gets both)
dessert: cake

soda, wine, and beer throughout the night.

coffee/cordial bar for dessert.

It is a great deal. It's a nice place, but it ain't no Leonard's.

Lowest price on a DJ (not wedding) is still $400.

Can't cut the list- MIL is one of 7 children. So, that's were 60 of the people are coming from. the other 40 are her IL's.

ugh. money.

Great price, but it would ALL be on DH and I to pay for...
