i sent away for my invitations last week..im thinking maybe..
i did some things wrong..i wrote 'together with our families' i mean we are paying for the wedding ourselves so im hoping that is ok..we wanted to write together with our parents out of respect for them but i have divorced parents..now do you think that 'together with our families' is more appropriate in my situation? i thought it was because then this way my step parents can feel somewhat special ..what do you think?im stressing

We're paying for the whole day ourselves - and my parents are divorced - and I also plan on saying 'together with our families'.

I think it sounds fine. This way you are including everyone.

Sounds like you've been looking at etiquette books. One I looked at said that the bride's parents should always be listed, no matter who is paying for the wedding. It also said that the bride's last name should never be included in the invite (though it's fine to have the grooms). That said, I disregarded the etiquette police and went with together with their families also. Our parents are not divorced, but we are paying for everything, and organizing everything. Plus, I am 37, he is 42. It seems silly to not be able to announce our wedding ourselves.

We did 'together with our families' though we're paying for most of the wedding -- we did get contributions from step-parents and grandparents so this way they aren't excluded by listing just our parents' names or 'together with our PARENTS', you know?
