Watermill brides...photo question

We were originally going to go to the arboretum in Oakdale to take pictures in between ceremony at St. Thomas More and reception at Watermill. Church is at 11 and cocktail hour is at 1. Now we are realizing that we dont think we will have time for that.

The Watermill suggested we just come straight there and do all our pics there. I dont know. Do you think there is 'enough' there for pictures? i dont want a ton of posed pics, anyway, but I just dont know if there are enough photo ops. I know it is very pretty, but its kind of a small area. Has anyone taken pictures just there, or plan to? It would be a lot easier for us if we could do it.
Thanks.

Re: Watermill brides...photo question

You can take photos outside, but also they have the pretty staircase when you come in and also the room in the back with the fireplace, even though I am sure the fire won't be lit unless its fake, the photos will be beautiful.

Re: Watermill brides...photo question

I definitely thinke there are pleanty of places at the WM to take pictures. Outside on the patio and over by the Gazebo. I don't think you'll have any problems.

Re: Watermill brides...photo question

FH and I had similar feelings, so we booked Old Westbury Gardens. Our thought was that if it rains, there really aren't many places inside to take pics. We felt that it was better to be safe than sorry.

Re: Watermill brides...photo question

We took our pictures there only because we had the ceremony and reception there.
The pictures are very pretty - there's the little bridge thing, the watermill area, the big gree gazebo...lots of different places for pictures.
and if you dont' want a lot of posed ones, that should be perfect for you.

Re: Watermill brides...photo question

one of the reasons i picked the Watermill...is because rain or shine there are plenty of photo oppurtunities.

I agree! and as long as you have a good photgrapher it shouldn't be a problem. I took my Engagement portrait pics at Patken yesterday and you would never know we are in a studio!

Re: Watermill brides...photo question

I was a Watermill bride and there are so many spots for pics. If my album wasnt packed away right now, I'd love to share them. The gardens are gorgeous and as mentioned in the above posts, the bridge is great..my favorite pic was taken there.

Re: Watermill brides...photo question

WE had our ceremony at the watermill and did not have the time or opportunity to consider going anywhere else for pictures. We have a ton from the grounds. My mom even commented that some of the pictures look like we're at a garden.

Re: Watermill brides...photo question

There were SOOO Many spots...So many more then I thought..

If your photgrapher knows the Watermill they will know the 'spots' .....We got at least 20 different shots outside, and probably 10-15 inside....Thats a LOT.
