Photographers--Negative feedback please!
Hey all!I have read like a gazillion threads on photographers on the site. many were very helpful and i've written down a ton of info about different photographers.
what i'd like is NEGATIVE feedback on specific photographers/videographers. since everyone has different opinions on what is nice, i would like to hear about things that didn't sit well with you or things you didn't like about certain studios. OR--if there are specific photographers that i would have to go with if i chose a specific studio.
i'm interested in hearing about ALL studios--whether you used them or not.
BTW--i've 'narrowed' it down (even though it's a list of like 20!) to the following but would love to hear about others
Imagine
ProLine
Gray--really want to hear about them
Duet
Artisan
Patken
Leli
12th Night
Silverfox
Duval
Rainbow
Pageant
ADA
Sherwood TriArt
Images Forever
Cassarino
Imagine
***I'm anything but rich and am paying for my own wedding--so if any of these are $$$$$$$$$ please let me know before i waste my time!!
TIA for all your help
ETA--i see people are still responding to this thread. we booked gray studios for photos and weddingcinema.net for video!

Re: Photographers--Negative feedback please!
Imagine does beautiful work, but their basic package starts at $3800. But she is so great, just out of my price range. Her husband does the video and it too is wonderful, again a little pricey though.

Re: Photographers--Negative feedback please!
I don't know much about the photographers you listed. What I CAN recommend is that you book a photographer and videographer of your choice. Many Many people are under the impression that getting both at the same place is the best.A photographer has his own art as do videographers. They are not nearly the same thing. So, my only advice to you is choose who you like best for photography and choose who you like best for video. They should be separate they are two different vendors offering different things.
Usually photgraphers throw in video and outsource it anyway. (meaning, they hire a videographer they know to shoot and edit the wedding anyway) you might as well pick the videographer you want instead of letting your photgrapher do that for you and paying him extra $.
by the way out of that list the only one I'd recommend is Patken.

Re: Photographers--Negative feedback please!
Just another thought....having the photographer and videographer from the same place has many advantages...for one...they work well together..I was at a wedding last year where they were seperate and were both fighting over who could get the best shot...This is obviously not the case all the time, but it can happen. In addition, there are many vendors out there who are quite capable of providing both services just as the vendors who specialize on just one...
In the end it is what you feel comfortable with.

Re: Photographers--Negative feedback please!
IRegarding video, there are some really great established video companies among them are Wild Rose (very $$$$$), Mittermax (who I'm using), Bliss (photojournalistic approach in video) and more. If you do not like a photographers video service, you really don't have to choose it (except in the case of Imagine Studios).
FM me with more ?'s

Re: Photographers--Negative feedback please!
You should be aware that truly negative reviews will be deleted from this site.I talked to MANY.......some were too pushy, trying too hard to impress, some didn't have such nice sample photos, some seemed like really sleazy business people, some were trying too much to convince me as to which technology was best (digital or film).
I won't say which was which but studios I talked to were: Visual Image, Patken, Jessica Studios, Karen Marie, plus about 6 others whose names I cannot even remember.
In the end we picked Laurie Studios. It was the only one where the people were nice PLUS they knew what they were doing.
Our videographer is a separate company but it turns out that he is friendly with our photographer. Neither of them pushed the other one but I mentioned to the photog. and then he told me that the video guy is his friend.

Re: Photographers--Negative feedback please!
Of those ones you listed I saw Duet, Silverfox, Patken, and Cassarino.Silverfox - loved them, but were a little too expensive for us when we added everything up.
Patken - nice work, but something didn't sit right with us. We went to see them a second time and when I asked them about getting proofs they got really wierd. That turned off me and FH.
Cassarino - great packages, but wasn't really crazy about their work.
Duet - loved their work, but were a little wary about the language barrier. After talking about it and seeing all the wonderful work done by them on this site, we decided to go with them. However we weren't crazy about the video, so we booked a separate videographer.
Hope this helps.

Re: Photographers--Negative feedback please!
My photographer was not on your list, but there is one thing I can suggest. It's so important that you feel comfortable and get along really well with your photographer. If you don't like him, it can show in the pictures.

Re: Photographers--Negative feedback please!
we looked at Sherwood Triart, Duet and Silver Fox...Sherwood...Told us they would be moving way before our appointment..so we went to the NEW location BUT they hadn;t moved yet and got annoyed at US!! That was strike 1...They were just way too impressed with themselves and didn't even show us the video even though we told them we were interested in video too...
Duet was nice but I felt they were a little unorganized for some reason
Silver Fox...we ultimately chose them...we loved their work and felt very comfortable with them as well
