Poll: How much is your cake if you are not getting one from you hall?

Just wondering how much extra getting a cake made would cost? I've heard mixed reviews about the cake at my wedding hall - and saw some really pretty ones on here- how much on average for 150 people?

The CHEAPIST quote I got was $350 for 100 people ( it wasnt a crazy design either as you have seen from my wedding pictures the layers were plain and I had the florist fill up the spaces with flowers)

the most expensive quote I got was over 1k

The average was $500

we paid 450 from benkerts ( the hall paid $200 and we paid $250)

we didnt want to go with their bakers they wouldnt do what we wanted

I went in yesterday and my son was being so bad.. Terrible 3s!!! So so so bad that I couldnt wait to leave. I brought him in tons of pictures of what I wanted and he told me all of them were way more expensive than my package and so I just ended up picking one

I might call him back and tell him to make it without the fake flowers (because I like the white stacked cake with lace on it) and Ill have the florist just throw a few roses on it. I hate those buttercream flowers! I wanted sugar - he said too much, I wanted strawberries - he said too much...

I called my favorite bakery in Rockville Centre to see how much it'd be - basically for a simple cake for approx. 115 people would be around $300 (+$50 delivery)... I dont know if it is really worth it to me to spend almost $500 on cake that probably none of my guests will eat! We'll see!
