Pet peeve--

Why is it that vendores i.e. photographers and bands give you a decision date.. they 'bribe' you by sayin they can hold this date and this price open until Friday.. i have heard that tis week from both the band and the photographer...arrrraghhhh!!! I'm not ready to make a decision yet!

None of the vendors I met with told me that. DO NOT let them rush you into making a decision. I would be very turned off if someone said that to me.

I heard this from one band - i thought it was a bit annoying too. My first instinct was 'OMG, I need to book them now' but then I calmed down and ended up booking a different band.

Scare tactics do work sometimes! ARGH - nothing's easy in the wedding planning world.

i got that from a band- but i didnt see it that way- i saw it as a good thing, that they would hold my date for me for two weeks so i can decide without the pressure of thinking someone else would book them, at least i had a two week window to think ...and then if i needed more time, i could ask for it...

That is annoying. Some vendors said - well, we'll call you in two weeks if we don't hear from you.
Why? If you don't hear from me, I'm not interested!

We got alot of ' well since its so early we will contact you closer to your wedding date to see if you made a decision'

Umm if we made a decision we would contact you. 2nd obviously I am looking for this particular vendor right now or I would not have made an appointment with you. If I wanted to wait closer to my wedding date to pick one I wouldn't be wasting my weekends on this now

I havent had that happen people that i have delt with tole me when do you think that your going to making a decision and i say with in a month and they will only hold the price for a month -

Thats BS. I have never been given untimatums like that. Its your decision, and your MONEY!!! Don't feel pressured. Take your time and think about it before you sign. These are important things.

I have heard that from a few vendors an I just ignored it they would call me by that date and I would tell them I still ahven't made a choice yet if I didn't book anyone and they would call me back but I wouldn't let it bother me One photography company even asked me to put a $20 non refundable deposit back to hold the date for 2 weeks. I thoguht that was a little obsurd. How dare you ask for money from us when we are looking at vendors and they knew we were just starting to look and that they were the first we went to go see.

I just had a band offer to hold a date for me for 2 weeks. I don't think it's a bad thing. It wasn't like they asked for money to hold the date. If they did ask for $$ then I'd have to say NO WAY!!

At any rate whatever you do DON'T feel pressured to book them. Just continue to look at different vendors. Believe me if you are giving yourself enough time, the date will be available when you make a decision.

Does anyone feel like sometimes there are too many OPTIONS!!!!??? I know options are a good thing but they can be so overwhelming!

I know I am trying to plan from out of state, but is anyone else a bit...well...crazy.

I haven't had anyone give me a deadline...one of the photographers said if i booked that day I would get some extras...but other than that no one has given us a deadline as to when we HAD to book.
