Ugh - I hate that. I always try to be nice about declining those invites, but that ends up biting me in the arse. Sometimes I just want to tell em 'I don't like seeing you at work, so why would I voluntarily subject myself to the torture of seeing you in my free time!'

I sympathize....I am not interested in socializing outside of working hours with co-workers. I prefer to keep work at work (at least at this job.)

My old boss was the same way....He has a boat and every year invited our whole dept on his boat. We would all decline (we don't want to see each other in work, nevermind outside of work), and he would bug us. Just get the hint and stop inviting us. We're not gonna come.

Oh she's not whining or complaining! She usually talks about her daughter a lot. And since this morning she has talked about her non-stop, how happy she's at camp, how nice it is to have some peace and quiet, what a great experience it is for the both of them.

You know, the more you try to convince everyone how thrilled and happy you are and not dependant on your child to create your identity, the less likely we are to believe you.

Just a heads up.

Meanwhile, I've heard her mention her husband's name twice in the 1 1/2 years she's worked here!
