White bridesmaids dress for a weedding dress?

Happy Friday everyone!

Although a lot of the drsses that I am seeing are beautiful, they are not really 'me', a lot of them have lace, beading, etc. and are big (I am short). A friend told me I should consider ordering a bridesmaids dress in white for myself. I poked around a little bit on line, and saw that some dresses that are floor length did come in white! Has anyone heard of anyone doing this? Thanks!

I think you should wear whatever you like. It only matters what you will be happy in.

Most people probably would not even realize it is a 'bridesmaid' dress

hey, check out jcrew, go online...they now have a wedding collection, and the dresses are very classic and beautiful, yet simple......

You can do whatever you want, it's your dress!

This has been done before, but just be careful when ordering a BM dress, I've heard that some manufacturer's in effort to stop this will up the price of a white BM dress if you not buying it in certain quantities! How ridiculous!

Sounds like a good idea. You can also do a search under destination wedding dresses.

I didn't want a lot of stuff on mine either. Plain ones are out there. Check out Marisa gowns.

oh come on.....it's amazing how the prices are jacked up just because you might wear the dress as a bride! It's the same fabric, cost to manufacture....that should be illegal!

Anyway...enough ranting....I think it's a great idea if you find one you like....you can always dress it up to your style with accesories and stuff....show us pics of what you're considering

Ugh, I know! I read in a book that some will say they won't sell white BM dresses unless you buy at least three of them!

Absolutely!!!

I was so close to buying a Jessica McCllintock bridesmaid dress for my wedding dress, but only changed my mind after finding something I liked better. The dress would have only cost me about $200 too.....and it was so beautiful!

I wanted to do it and sort of wish I had since my bustle was ripped before the CH and I ended up carrying it around the whole night

I was thinking of a Jessica McClintock too, but I am a size 16/18 and if the dress was ordered and didn't fit, I could only get store credit. If I were a little smaller, I definitely would have gotten one of those.

I was seriously considering doing this as well. In fact, I think I liked more BM dresses than wedding dresses!

It's your wedding - you do whatever you want and wear what makes you feel most comfortable. I'm short, and HATED all the dresses that I've seen and tried on b/c they made me feel really old and very short....but I actually found my dress (w/the help of Adina (Hocus)) and it's the best decision I've made.
