Hi Guys,

I would like to lose some weight and was just wondering if any of you care to share any info about Curves.

(what it is all about, prices... all helpful info!)

Thanks...

Re: Curves.... Info Needed

I just read an article about Curves in Shape magazine this morning and it said that it is great for beginners and people who have never exercised, but that for avid exercisers, a half hour session only burned 184 calories and was equivalent to walking on the tradmill for a half hour.

My aunt goes and loves it though!

LOVE Curves. Saw results after only one week. I reccomend it 100% I had to stop b/c of back problems. It's $75 to sing up and $40 a month. you go 3x per week for 3o-45 min (30 mintue circuit, plus stretches). LOVE it

Re: Curves.... Info Needed

FMIL did it... she loved it at first, but then had to stop... the machines are all pre-set at specfic adjustments, and she started getting back problems... how can so many different sized women all use machines set the same...

The machines use hydraulic resistance, so they aren't 'pre-set' but rather, the harder you push on them, the more the machine resists and the harder the workout.

I have gone for a while and I like it. I definitely have seen results and am stronger, more toned and more flexible. In my opinion, the people who don't benefit are either using the machines incorrectly (so you might want to check out a few branches and find a good staff that will train you properly...) or they are socializing and talking way too much and not working out hard enough.

I do agree, however, that it is good for beginners or people who don't exercise much. If you are used to a strenuous workout, it may not be enough for you. For me it works, because I am less likely to blow off a 30 minute workout than a one hour class.

I didn't mean preset for the weight resistance, but preset with the sizes of the machine... does that make sense?? Like you know how sometimes you need to move a bike seat higher or lower...
