HELP! Ok, I need opinions...please vote...and be honest!

Ok, this is the band that my dad wants us to have. I need opinions badly. He loves them, but me...not so much. The lead singer was from the Del Satins ('Runaround Sue')...which is nice and all, but I still have a lot of reservations. If we get the band my dad will contribute to it...if we get just a DJ it's all on FH and myself. Now after asking how much people are spending on DJ's, I seriously doubt we can afford a DJ on our own w/ the rest of the wedding expenses piling up. The band comes w/ a DJ, just so everyone knows. Please be honest...I know the food and the entertainment is very important to a wedding.

sounds like old music, but could be fun.

I would go for the DJ- you don't have to spend a fortune. Shop around you'll find something.

do a DJ. there are quite a few for under $1,000.

For my DH's surprise party, I booked Vinny from High Voltage Sounds. I think his wedding package starts at $700

They have a good sound. But you may run into some problems if you want a lot of dance music. They probably want to be star of the show, not the DJ.

Yeah, I can't imagen them letting the DJ play more. They do more recent stuff too, but I am not a band person and I just can not picture it. I also do not think our reception hall is big enough to put a band. I am going to EW in 2 weeks, I have to get another look at the room.

vinny from hight voltage is a DJ on this board... I believe his price starts at $650

oh yea, he is having them sing at the coctail hour and then the Dj for the main part of the wedding!

That would work really nicely if they could sing during your cocktail hour, during the meal courses, and for your special dances. Then the DJ can do the rest.

So your Dad will only pay for the band if it's this one? Otherwise you are on your own? Sounds like you need a re-negotiation. He would be saving money if you booked a DJ (which is really what you want). How about that, getting the music that you really want. I didn't listen to the clips, but if this is not in your vision, then other plans need to be made.
