Weird Situation, need advice..POLL

So, I am getting married upstate and my parents have a second home on a small lake outside of Lake George. I had a very good friend up there for many years, and about 7 years ago, we had a minor falling out and lost touch. I saw her once or twice and acted a little catty toward her.

So, fast forward to today. I called a salon in Saratoga that I was referred to, left my info. and never received a return call back, so I called today. The owner apologized profusely, and we set up an appointment for August 6.....she tells me the name of the person doing my hair....guess what? It's the same girl I used to be friends with!!!!!

So, do I go for the trial? Do I look like a loser and cancel? Oh, and she just called me and left a message on my cell, sounding all nice and congrats and such, so to cancel now would be ridiculous.

Also, did the owner not call me back purposely because they knew who I was, but now that I called, they intentionally gave this girl to me? Or am I just thinking to much into it?

Please advise me!!!

obviously I don't know her, but I don't think she'd ruin your hair...but I think I'd cancel b/c I'd feel awkward. You don't have to feel like a loser for canceling; you can just say you won't be around that wk-end

Maybe w/ the owner, you may be reading into things (as I would!) but do you really want to book w/ someone who forgets perspective clients? JMO

There are so many great hairstylists out there, I wouldn't take the chance on someone who I had any negative history with! I'd cancel!

Normally I wouldn't have called her being that she didn't call me back, but I really am desperate to find a GOOD salon. I am still up in the air about going to a salon versus having them come to me, but a lot of places up there don't do that, so I almost have no choice.

I would go to show you're not intimated, but I wouldn't book her, I'd look for someone else just in case! Good luck, I'm sure it's all water under the bridge, but definitely go and see what kind of vibe you get. Good luck!

That's too wierd. I would just go to another place all together. Just tell them you can't get up there that weekend and you will rescedule. If you dodn't you will have this weird thing floating over your head. You will want to enjoy every moment and this could go either way. I wouldn't risk it. I don't think she would ruin your hair, but it would be uncomfortable.

I'd cancel for the simple fact of feeling uncomfortable - less stress is better

being that it's a trial, I would go through with it, especially since she's gone oout of her way to call you and leave a nice message.

I would probably just keep a really close eye on what she reaches for with my hair in her hands. lol

I would talk to her, see what kind of vibe you get over the phone. If she is professional, then she should be able to separate work from her personal life.

I think you're need to relax and not read too much into this. If u feel weird about it then cancel. Its all about how u feel. The girl might be trully happy for you and probably looking foward to doing your hair. Good Luck, and don't let this stress you.

i dont know - id probably want to cancel,

but the right thing would be to go,
maybe tell her that you are sorry you guys lost touch and this may be fate that brought you back to be friends.
you never know- it just might be!

I think you should just go - it's just a trial right? Maybe she's put all the bad feelings behind her. I doubt she'd do a terrible job on your hair when it's in the salon. The owner I'm sure would not stand for that. And, I'm sure they sincerely forgot to call you back and it has nothing to do with this girl. If you really feel uncomfortable having her do your hair for the big day after the trial, or feel like she's still harboring ill will towards you, just book someone else. But you might as well go in for a trial.

Well, the choice is yours, but if you are looking for a good person to do your hair, I can recommend a friend of mine in warrensburg. SHe has a nice salon right on main street, and is AWSOME, I thtink I may even have her come to long island for my wedding to do all the girls hair. Which Lake are you getting married on Loon? I love to find hometown girls, I grew up in Bolton Landing FM me if you need the info.

Don't sweat it. Who know's, maybe this girl called and left a nice message to let you know that there are no hard feelings. Since it is only a trial appt. I would go for it. Think of it this way, her work is a reflection on her so why would she do a cr@ppy job you know? In the event that you don't like her work, go to a different girl or have her fix it the way you would with anyone else.

I have a habit of doing this as well but you just might be reading too muchh into it. She might even take it as a compliment that your going to the salon. She might just think that this is your way of making a mends and if it was a minor falling out maybe you guys could become friends again. I say go it's just a trial.

I FMed you back with the info. I am not sure if she goes to the client.. I mean I know she will for me, but I don't know if that is her norm. She is very nice, just give her a call, I am sure she will be happy to answer any questions. GOOD LUCK!
