My parents HATED my trial pics!!!

Somehow I really can't believe this, but I showed my parents my trial pics from Jenn and Oksana and they HATED them!!!

Now mind you, I changed my mind on my hair, and the makeup will be slightly different, but I'm still shocked at the reaction. I can't figure out if it's just because they're old fashioned, or they're used to seeing me in the typical updo at weddings, and not used to seeing me in so much makeup.

I know it's my day, but since I have already heard my mother bad mouth how my SILs and cousin looked at their weddings, I really don't want my mom to bad mouth me in the end!! (although she can't say crap about the dress since she chose it!!)

Anyone else having a similar problem? I've got soo many things hitting me at once that this one extra thing has sent me over the edge!!

You are right - sometimes a lot of things hit you at once. Wedding planning is so stressful!

Are you going to have another trial?

Considering I booked them already, it doesn't make much sense to book another trial. I may experiment at makep counters a Sephora and Macy's to get an idea, but that's it.

You can't make everyone happy all the time. As long as you are happy, then don't worry. I thought your makeup looked great! Plus, when you have it all together with the hair, the makeup, and the dress, you're going to be a beautiful bride. I'm sure your parents can't argue with that.

My fiance's grandma had the same reaction to my dress, which I LOVE!!! She is very old fashion and was telling me I shoud wear a ring with flowers around it instead of a tiara. If you like it and feel great about it, then don't let their comments get to you!!!

I had a similar problem with my gown - it's all about HOW YOU FEEL. If you feel beautiful, you will exude and look beautiful to others!! I understand what it is like to want the approval and excitement of everyone, but that's tough.

I completely understand.

My mom has disliked all of my dress selections...has requested that although I am getting a strapless dress I get straps to detach after the church. She doesn't like my invites and has fought me on the day, the reception hall, the number of bridesmaids, his groomsmen, etc.

if you think i am kidding...i invite you to sit on my attempt at dress shopping tomorrow at bridal refelctions in Massapequa at 11am. It isn't for the faint of heart.

sorry to hear that. maybe have another trial with them while your mom is there so she feels better and can give some imput? i hate it when my mom thinks i look bad.

I'm so sorry! What didn't they like specifically? I thought you looked beautiful! Although it can be painful to get negative feedback, especially from parents, the bottom line is that it's YOU that has to be happy. If you loved how you look, I wouldn't change it to please someone else.

Did you ask them what exactly they didn't like?
I showed FH the pics from my trial, and he didn't like the makeup, but thats because he's not used to seeing me in makeup. I told him he'd better like it that day.

Thanks for making me feel better....the hair I wasn't crazy about myself, but think it's because they're so used to seeing me without makeup and with an updo for my hair.

My mom actually said she liked the eyes but not the foundation, I told her it was because I was breaking out that day that my face was not flawless. The hair was just an idea, but it didn't work well with my tiara, so I need something different.

I'm going to experiment on my own before then, but would it be silly to get another trial to try a different look??
