Very Wedding Related - I have GREAT news!

You may remember that I asked a question a few weeks ago - wondering whether there was someone in your life that you didn't ask, but wish you did to be in your bridal party.

My story is that I have a friend from kindergarten. She lived around the corner from me all our lives. She is literally my oldest friend.

For various reasons, I believed that she couldn't/didn't want to be apart of my wedding so I did not ask her. I didn't want to make her uncomfortable.

For the past month, I have been really upset everytime I would hang out with her - I'd look at her and be like... (in my head) 'Why are you NOT in my wedding?'

I talked to my MOH about it, with my mom, with FH and last night - in the middle of our favorite bar - I told her that if I would have loved to have her as a BM if it wasn't for my belief that she couldn't/didn't want to do it.

Well, I was blown away. She told me she was wondering why I hadn't asked. She's so into it and she is not an overly emotional person but here we were laughing, hugging and (ok, just me) crying in the middle of the bar!

I explained everything and she said that she really wanted to be in it! She was so giddy (and so was I!)

It was the best moment (other than asking my MOH of course ) because I didn't expect that reaction. I can not tell you how happy I am. When I left she was like - 'are you sure?' I said, of course!!!! But this morning, I left a card on her windshield thanking her for saying yes.

I guess the moral of the story is that you should always follow your heart and take a leap sometimes cause people will surprise you!

So, I'm almost done - need to ask his cousin in two weeks when we are in the Poconos with her. And we will be officially 'even' with our bridal party... EEK - 9 guys and 9 girls!!!! AACCKKKK!

I have to say - giving them the opportunity to say yes or no - that's the way to go.

I wish I had brought it up months ago...but I am so glad I did it!

She rreally is overwhelmed in her personal life etc, kid with ADD, separation from her husband, that I jsut feel it may be too much! She is a great friend from college!

That's great news!! You must be so excited... When I asked one of my bridesmaids, she started jumping up and down, and I definetely remember the feeling of being so happy that she was so happy... and I know that is what you are feeling now!!! Congrats, somehow, everything always works itself out!!!

that's great Lisa. I am very happy you did this. It's sad that sometimes we get so concerned over what people will think of us, that we don't do what we really want to do!

I am so happy - I think what Jessica said is right - we get so concerend about 'they'll say no...or they can't do it....etc.etc.'

I am just so glad that I did this because I would have regretted it for so long.

Sounds great! True friends dont judge when you are honest with them. It sounds like this person is genuine and you should be proud to have her as part of your day!!!

That's great - it's those moments that make being a so wonderful!

I have also asked my longest and oldest friend to be in my BP. I have known her since the day we moved next door to her. I was two, she was three, and her name is 'Conigs25.' LOVE YA MICHE!

that's a great story. that was how I felt when we decided not to have a bridal party-only MOH and Best Man. I felt empty not having my best friends, neices and nephews and both my sisters. So, I asked EVERYONE we loved the most even though it's not an even # of girls and guys. I don't care as long as everyone we love the most is involved and standing beside us on that day.

So happy for you! You should always go with your gut

just had to bump and say that the last few days with my new BM has been awesome! closer than before and I am just excited! woo-hoo!

but i'm getting the 'your bridal party is HUGE' comments!!! whatever!!! love it.
