Any girls having their dress custom made?

I live in Brooklyn / NYC area and was wondering if any girls are having their dresses custom made and the experiences they are having... TIA!!!

Where is the best place to search for dress makers? Thanks! I am starting to think that if this week goes bad with dress hunting, I may just have someone do what I want!!!!

Me too, that's why I think I'm using the lady that Christine will be using.
this is the dress that I want.

I'm mixing in different elements from different dresses that I'm in love with.

I'm keeping the top, but adding a lace train pleat - if that makes any sense...I'm also getting rid of the fold in the front of the dress, and will want the sash to be similar to a cumberbun (sp?)....that's why I need to get a custom dress...can't find anything like that!

I also can't afford the ML dress - it's $5,500!
