Re: NWR: Anyone ever crack their Jaw??

Go see your dentist... This happens to me too... I have a lot of anxiety, so at night I sleep with my jaw clenched and I even clench it a lot during the day unconsiously. It causes pain and headaches. Your dentist should be able to help you.

My old dentist had a nightguard fitted for my mouth... it helped alot at first, but now it does nothing for me... i DID notice though that, since the wedding is over, it happens Much less frequently (i used to wake up numerous times per night b/c i would slam my jaw shut so hard)...

its probably the wedding (and other) stress thats making it flare up

Re: NWR: Anyone ever crack their Jaw??

a few years ago, when my grandfather passed away and i was under stress for finals in college i could not open my jaw anymore than to put a drinking straw in my mouth.

my chiropractor worked miracles and if it starts flaring up, he taught me how to massage the jaw muscles to loosen it up.

if you need a name of a good one, FM me. I highly recommend mine.

Re: NWR: Anyone ever crack their Jaw??

I had the same thing while i was in college. TMJ...
My dentist ended up filing my teeth a little so they fit better when my mouth was closed and they made a night mouth guard for me to slowly shift my jaw so the teeth wouldn't hit the way they were and it worked. No more sore jaw and there's no problems opening my mouth anymore

Re: NWR: Anyone ever crack their Jaw??

definitely ask your dentist for an oral surgeon referral. I work for one and we see this a lot. sometimes he just writes a script for a muscle relaxer, sometimes a night guard, it totally depends, but i would definitely have it checked out! HTH

Re: NWR: Anyone ever crack their Jaw??

Thanks!

I guess it's more common than I thought.

Will it go away on it's one (once the wedding's over?? stress over??) or do i HAVE to have it looked at to solve it?

Re: NWR: Anyone ever crack their Jaw??

No joke - This happened to me last week for the first time and I got really nervous and called everyone - my mom, dad, FH, cousin, FMIL - EVERYONE! It has GOT to be wedding stress then if I am not the only one! I couldn't move my jaw for a couple of days but it is feeling a little better now. Good luck!!
