What are good questions to ask the photographer?

I am beginning my search for a photographer...what are some good questions to ask??

I get confused with negatives, proofs, albums...what makes packages different?

Re: What are good questions to ask the photographer?

Proofs are what you get to go through and decide what you want in your album. Most packages I saw came with between 400-700 proofs. The album is the formal book that only has the best pics (in most of the packages I saw the album had between 40-60 pics). I felt it was important that I get my negatives b/c I want to be able to make copies in the future without having to go through the photographer. Some of the photographers shoot only digital so if it is important to you that you use old fashioned film, make sure you ask!

Re: What are good questions to ask the photographer?

Another good resource for vendor questions in gerenal is LIWeddingpages. They have a web site, but I pick up the magazine every once in a while - it is filled w/ all LI vendors, and a chapter on each (photo, reception , flowers, etc) as well as how to chose and impt' Qs to ask. It's been a great resource for me (along w/ LIW, of course!).

PS - if you're near Fortunoff or Bridal Reflections, they give it out for free, if not you can pick it up at a bookstore.

GOOD LUCK!

The packages that I saw generally said that you are guaranteed at least 300 pictures - but all of the photographers said that you will get more than that.

The packages are different because some albums may have more than others, you may get different sized enlargements, or you might add on a 2nd photographer.

When you go, ask to see an album from your hall - that is how I compared the photographers.
