Favor/flowers/shoes question

Hey guys
Just wondering if i can bounce some ideas of you.
For favors, Fi and i were thinking of making a donation to a charity in leiu of favors. Has anyone done this and how did it go over with the guests? Also please show me picures of what you are giving the guest to inform them of where the favor went (the card you made up). Our other ideas were chocolate or CD's. I just feel like most people throw the favors away.

Flowers-if anyone can show pictures of rose petals on the place card table. I love the look of them lined up and the rose petals in between (hope i am explaining myself correctly).

For shoes-where did you get them (online-what website, or a store)and most improtant are they comfortable?

A lot of brides on this site have given money to charity in leiu of a favor. Definitely do a search and you'll find various types of wording.
