question for those who who had/having a memorial candle
Did you have someone light the candle or was it already done before the ceremony started? If you had someone light it, who did you have?
I would feel bad if i have someone in the family light it b/c they would be so sad. It is very recent that FH grandmother passed away (in May).
Any suggestions?
Thank you

I'd like a memorial candle also. Are you buying one similar to the ones from Jean M essentials, and do you light it right after the unity candle?

I bought a candle from Michael's that can be used as a unity candle or to put your invitation in. I will print a 'memory' poem and put it on the candle with the pins that came with it. FH and I will light the candle at the beginning of the ceremony

I'm placing my mother's memorial candle on the piano when you first walk in to Vineyards. Where our guests will be getting their place cards. I am having someone at the venue just light it for us, so it's lit when people go to get their seating card.

FH and I are lighting the candle. Our priest suggested that we do it either after the unity candle lighting or during the intercessions.

We had 2 candles. One was for DH's Aunt that had just passed and one was for everyone else we had lost. DH did the 'everyone' candle and his DH's uncle did the one for his wife before the ceremony started.

I went to one where they incorperated it into the ceremony.... after lighting the unity candle both sets of parents walked up and they all lit the candle together, it was nice.

Re: question for those who who had/having a memorial candle
I had one for my brother. DH and I both lit it together. After I walked down the aisle, the priest announced that in honor of my brother not being there , we will now be lighting a candle in his memory. The organist played Ave Maria as we lit it. Then we officially started the ceremony. I did it this way because to me that candle represented him for the day and lighting it meant to me that he was now present and we could start the ceremony.
