September honeymoon ideas?? Scared of hurricane season!

Hi Everyone,

Looking for advice and ideas for our honeymoon. We are getting married in September (peak hurricane season

)

We must consider these things:

I love the beach and lounging and want to go someplace where I can do that.

FH loves to do activities...siteseeing, horseback riding....(no water sports b/c he can't swim and refuses to do them).

Lastly...our budget...gotta find something that won't break the bank.

Any ideas of what might meet our situation?

costa rica! we are spending a few days at the volcano, a few days at the rain forest and a few at the beach. we plan on going hiking, horseback riding, white water rafting, on a canopy tour, then finishing our honeymoon relaxing on the beach! very inexpensive too!

I would definitely look into Aruba. They are out of the hurricane area. Do some reseach and Im sure you can find something within your budget.

I got married in September of 04 and we went to Aruba and the weather was unbelievable. There were hurricanes in the Caribbean at the time but no where near Aruba.

Also a lot of people go to Hawaii who get married in those months.

how about spain - marbella, barcelona?
you can get a package for about 3-4k for a week

spain is so goreous, has a beach, its romantic and no hurricaine worries!

I've heard that Aruba is a great place to go during hurricane season because it is outside the hurricane belt.

We booked Sandals Antigua because Sandals has hurricane protection. If there is a hurricane during your honeymoon, they will give you another trip to the same resort for the same time the following year. We got 10 days for 5,000. And we didn't book the lowest room either. We did conceirage level...they are having 40-50% off sales right now!! Don't miss it!

We went to Mauritius, an island in the Indian Ocean. We also stopped in Paris for five days before Mauritius. Its a long flight, but the island is known for amazing food and accomodations.

Thanks everyone. I will look into some of the ideas.
Hawaii seems a bit out of our budget. Aruba does seem within the budget. Has anyone been to Aruba yet? Can you share some of the day and night activities?

I mentioned the hurricane guarantee to my FH.....his response was 'yeah well do they guarantee you'll actually survive to take that next honeymoon??'.....so sarcastic..
