Pet Peeves of the LIRR...

why is it so damn cold. I just saw a guy this morning in a ski hat and gloves. He could just be a werido - but for a second - he seemed like the smartest guy on the train.

I do NOT miss the LIRR at all!!! GRRR

The worst was when it was 100 degrees out and the train cars had no AC or when the train is delayed for NO reason!!! Then the train fares went up!
Can you tell I am so glad I do NOT work in NYC anymore!!

I feel the exact same way...only good thing about it was sleeping on the train BUT I hated being wedged next to someone else Sometimes it was just too close for comfort

It is freezing! Especially on the new trains!
I also hate how people sit on the outside seat and put their bags and stuff on the inside seat! I think that is so inconsiderate and rude on a rush hour train yet sooo many people do it!!

I have absolutely NO problem telling these people to move their shyt.

In fact... if I am in a ballsy mood... i'll look for the schmuck that I feel is doing it the WORST on purpose... and tell him to move.... EVEN if there are plenty of other seats on the train where people aren't doing this.

I do that too!!! my favorite type of target is some obnoxious lady (who is probably on the phone) with a ton of shopping bags on the seat next to her - I love to smile and wait for her to move all the bags - especially when there are other seats. Its like other commuters are giving you mental high fives when you do it.

I hate that people talk on the phone at 7 in morning. My friends would kick my a$$ if I called them to gossip that early.

i hate this to!!!!

I also hate it when people decide it would be a good thing to start playing cards in the morning with a new friggin noisy deck every day!!!!!

I hate the four or five goumba jerks on the hunterspoint ave train in the evening who talk so loud I have been forced to change cars to avoid their arrogance and awkward stares! They yell about how drunk they're going to get that weekend while driving their boats and real mature stuff like that - - and they stare at each and every female who boards the train.

The LIRR should spend some of their surplus on designating specific cars as the Jerk Cars...

I was ready to post this thread yesteday..I hate when I am sitting by the window. In the meantime, the end and middle seat are both open....I hate when the person decides to sit in the middle seat (end seat being empty). And, than she had her bags and stuff on the end seat..WHAT NERVE!!!

OMG..I know who you are talking about..I used to ride with them on the way home.. ..They are always playing cards, right..??So, many people used to get so annoyed at them...their car was always empty by the second stop.

On the train I used to ride, the card players were very nervy - like getting all huffy if 'their' seats were taken by the time they boarded - the ones that face each other. And they were SOOOO annoyingly loud in the mornings I wanted to punch some of them.

OMG! My FH asked why I was wearing a sweater today when it's going to be 100! I said it's so freeking cold on the train that I'm numb by the time I get to Penn. The double-decker's are freezing the really new one's have minimal air and the best temperature is on the old one's that always break down

As for people taking up seats space. I take the Montauk line and on Thursdays and Fridays it's HORRIBLE!!! Between the Hampton and FI crowd I'm wound up and ready to burst by the time I get home for the weekend.

When I was commuting I couldn't ever sleep on the new trains. The window ledge was completely the wrong height to rest my head on!! Plus, they smell funny - STILL! and what's the point of an overhead shelf for your bags and stuff if NOTHING fits on them!

The moral of the story is that the LIRR (and MTA - lest we forget the joyful subway rides everyday) S U C K S !

I could make a list, but I'll start with a few

the air conditioning (working or not working-never right). The a/c is working, then it's not.

cell phone rudeness-too long or too loud you should drive to work. I don't want to hear about your trip to California or the details of your gall bladder operation

Can everyone just shut up at 7am? I can't even imagine having a conversation with anyone at that hour..

The guy falling asleep on me yesterday was a keeper! Insert elbow into rib-cage (several times)

Toe nail clipping-uh...I think it's a don't

Antagonizing your kids so they get even more upset and scream louder-i have a story about this one

They really need 'Quiet cars'... no cell phones, no talking, no loud ipods, munching, etc. Need this on all trains and on planes that fly during certain times of the day.

People CLIP THEIR TOENAILS!!!! That is beyond gross
