Did anyone take their FH wedding dress shopping?

My fiance and I do absolutely everything together, so naturally we're planning on picking out my dress together. Everyone I mention this to tells me that I'm nuts - and my mother is already freaking out about it!

I figure that he is going to look at me all day on our wedding day, and I want a dress that he'll love to see me in.

Is anyone else as anti-tradition as we are?

Re: Did anyone take their FH wedding dress shopping?

I'm also antitradition. I'm also jealous as heck! My FH hates shopping. I showed him a picture of a dress I thought I might pick and he just laughed and said it look like a disiany (spl) dress. Which is an insult coming from him. He said he would be happy with whatever I picked. We'll be taking our pictures before the ceremony to get them out of the way. So do what you want! Its your WEDDING!

Re: Did anyone take their FH wedding dress shopping?

I actually had FH with me when we were driving past a David's Bridal. We thought it would be fun to look real quick, but they wouldn't even let him come in!

What do you mean they wouldnt let him come in!!?!?! You could have been brother and sister or friends!

I say so whatever you want and screw tradition. Whatever makes YOU happy.

Re: Did anyone take their FH wedding dress shopping?

Everyone has their own opinion on the matter so take your family and friends with a grain of salt. Does it go against 'tradition,' sure, but nowadays you do what you are comfortable with. For me, I wanted to stick with tradition on this one.

Re: Did anyone take their FH wedding dress shopping?

We are doing everything 'non-traditional' including taking our pictures before the ceremony. But, the one thing he hasn't seen is my dress. Now I'm not really sure why I've kept it from him. hmmmm.

Do what makes you happy, not what makes everyone else happy.

Re: Did anyone take their FH wedding dress shopping?

I could careless if he sees the dress, picks the dress, etc. at the end of the day - its still just a dress.

But no - i have not taken him dress shopping with me - and i really don't plan on it - but if he wanted to - i wouldn't freak out about it.

Re: Did anyone take their FH wedding dress shopping?

He didn't go dress shopping with me, but he wanted to go with me to my first fitting for 'moral support' (I was afraid the dress wouldn't fit).

I don't care if he sees the dress beforehand.

Re: Did anyone take their FH wedding dress shopping?

Just so you know, most bridal places will not let men in. I brought my FH with me to a bridal place when I was a BM in a wedding last year and there was absolutely no one else in the place and they still wouldn't let him past the entraceway.

But you do what you want to do. It's your wedding. You have to be happy.

Re: Did anyone take their FH wedding dress shopping?

we do mostly everything for the wedding together and we do most other things together outside of the wedding, BUT this is the one thing I do not want him involved in! Call it traditional or whatever, but he wont see the dress, i want that AH HA moment when he sees the dress for the first time when I am all dolled up...BUT with that said , you should do what works for you, if you are ok with it, he is ok with it, screw what everyone else says or thinks

I totally understand you...my FH and I are best friends...however, when it comes to the dress, I'm a bit superstitious. I did see another bride trying on her dress with her mother there and her FH. So don't feel intimidated...do as you please....

Re: Did anyone take their FH wedding dress shopping?

I did not take fh with me
but when i looked at mag's
and folded the pages down that
I liked he would look
but me personally I would never let
him come with me to do something like
that . I want him to see me the day of the wedding all dressed.

I would not take him with me nor will I allow him to see a picture of the dress. I cant wait to see the look on his face when he sees me for the first time walking down the aisle.

Re: Did anyone take their FH wedding dress shopping?

No way!
I do everything with DH too but that was the beauty of the dress.

It was a great feeling to pick out what I liked and then to see his reaction 10 months later. It was keeping the secret that was torture. But SO worth it!
