Re: Spinoff: Do you think you can tell what level of education a person has from reading their posts?
No, because *some* of the people who supposedly have good jobs (or ones that presumably require good education) can't write.

Re: Spinoff: Do you think you can tell what level of education a person has from reading their posts?
no....but I would never assume that someone did or didnt have a high education level based on the way they type their posts....I hardley ever use correct spelling/grammer. meanwhile I minored in American Lit.....I'm just to lazy to use spell checker and could care less if I used the correct .!?;,...even though I am well aware of all the grammer rules.

I wasn't trying to be snarky with this question, I was just wondering.I have never been able to guess with any accuracy.

I would have to say no, but I don't only equate intelligence with institutional higher learner. Some of the most well-spoken/written people I have encountered don't even have a HS diploma.

Much like the age question, I have no idea about level of education. Wouldn't ever care to venture a guess since I would most likely be way off.

I am an educator and anyone in my building who has permanent certification to teach in the State of New York must have a master's degree. However, you would be surprised at the number of permanently certified teachers who do not know that the word 'nickel' is not spelled N-I-C-K-L-E. This is horrifying to me. There are people who hold nothing more than a high school diploma who read the New York Times everyday. They often write, spell and speak better than some doctors and lawyers. JMO.

Exactly--sometimes you can sense how educated a person is, by the content of their post, but it is not neccessarily formal education.

Re: Spinoff: Do you think you can tell what level of education a person has from reading their posts?
no way!i can guess an age based on the topics people post about, and sometimes, their reactions to things, but I wouldn't even try to guess someone's education level....

Well, I wouldn't really call it guessing, but sometimes you can deduce, that say, someone has graduated Law school, b/c they mention in passing that they are a lawyer.

If you mean do pompous, pedantic posts indicate a higher level of education? Not necessarily!
