Re: Has anyone been to Little Dix Bay in Virgin Gorda or the Fairmont in barbados???

i've been to virgin gorda! but we stayed at the bitter end yacht club... i have to tell you that the whole island is amazing!! just sooo laid back and not built up or touristy.... it was the perfect place to spend our honeymoon!
the bitter end was great! all the meals were inlcuded, and a huge selection of watersports- sailboats we could take out, lilttle boston whaler motorboats... everyday we would jsut take out a boston whaler and go over to another nearby island where we had the beach almost all to ourselves... there were also a ton of snorkeling trips and tours that were all included, too... there were a few young kids at bitter end though... so it depends on what your looking for... i hear little dix bay is just a tiny bit more upscale... but bitter end is just another option
one more thing... theres hardly any night life on virgin gorda- we were in bed by 10 every night... so if you're looking for bars or clubs or lots of restaurants... it might not be the best place.... just to let ya know

Yes I stayed at Little Dix Bay for our honeymoon..it was absolutely amazing...here are some pics that tell a lot about it:

It was perfect for us since I love to lay on the beach and DH loves a little more activity and we got both (we hiked, snorkeled, sailed, took day trips, layed on beach)...the resort is gorgeous, food and service excellent.
We are definitel going back, probably for an anniversary some time!

FM me for more details!!!

I've been snorkeling near there - it was amazing! If you're going to BVI, I would also recommend White Bay on Jost Van Dyke.

To Jost from another island or to BVI from here? I think the flight down was 3 hours or so - we stayed on St. Thomas. I think it took us about an hour to get there by boat, but I'm not entirely sure because we stopped at St. John on the way. I know all these islands are relatively close and that you can rent boats to take day trips all over while you're there.

it took us awhile to get to VG... we flew from philly ( the wedding was in south jersey) to san juan puerto rico which was almost 4 hours.... then we flew from san juan to beef island airport on tortola ( another BVI) which was about a half hour and THEN we took a ferry from tortola to the bitter end on virgin gorda... it was almost a whole day of travel... but SOOO worth it!!

yeah the travel agent told us we'd have to go to PR then to Tortola. We didn't really want to spend the whole day traveling but it sounds amazing!

Similar here, we flew JFK to PR, PR to Tortola, then Little Dix Bay picked us up on their boat and brought us over (fun ride with rum punch!). It wasn't too bad, we had a 7am flight and were on our private porch by around 2pm.

We stayed at the Fairmont in Barbados. There are actually two of them. We actually thought it was great and it was very affordable. I would always prefer a Ritz or Four Seasons, but we always say that it was one of our favorite vacations.
