repost from BHB on invitations question

OK, so FH and I have been a little lax in the invitation department. We have them picked out and are buying them tomorrow morning. Our wedding is in 2.5 months, but the woman in the store said we'd be able to get them in two weeks, just in time to mail them out 8 weeks before the wedding. . .

here's the question... We obviously don't have time to send them all out to have the addresses done in calligraphy. They are really extravagent and nice invitations. A gift from my parents. Do you think we should send them a little late (maybe 6 weeks prior) and get the calligraphy done?
Or send them out on time (8 weeks prior) just hand write them ourselves, or have them done with computerized caligraphy?

any advice is appreciated!
Thanks!

Re: repost from BHB on invitations question

could the place you ordered them from do the outer env??? or, do what I did and have them give you the envelopes (blank) so you could get a head start on printing them or getting the caligraphy done??? I definitely would do anything to avoid sending them out just 6 weeks prior, you might have your whole list thinking they are 'b' listers..... HTH

Re: repost from BHB on invitations question

definitely do not hand write them.

the best option for you IMO is to have the calligraphy done by computer.

Re: repost from BHB on invitations question

I did computer calligraphy and it was beautiful. They matched the font on my invitations and even matched the ink color. IMO I liked computer calligraphy better since the lettering is uniform.

PS - Tribeca Rooftop is gorgeous. I am very jealous!!

Re: repost from BHB on invitations question

We are already spending so much money as it is. Doing it with the computer, in my opinion is just as nice and less costly.
