My Shower a little long (vent)

I had my shower last sunday which it was great my mom and my MOH did a great job. It was at my house, they made it into a garden party (even though it was HOT) but it turned out great. They had their own theme colors it was apple green and pink. It was the best because people danced, drank, and even jumped into the pool with their clothes on. It was fun. but there is always something that goes wrong

Now my FI side of the family is small (tiny) so we invited his friends. My mom told me that they did not RSVP so my FI had to call them and asked them if they were going to the shower. They all told him that they were going. it was about five women. Well at the party i noticed a whole table was missing and i asked who was supposed to come. (his family and friends). We are still waiting for their apology or excuse.
Now my FI was upset because why do they say their coming and then do not. At least call and make up a lame excuse. or why say yes and then do not go. Just because it was in my back yard doen't mean you do not have to RSVP my mom still had to pay for their place setting, food, chair.

Now we are thinking twice on inviting them to the wedding can you just imagine they RSVP and the day of the wedding no one shows up. That is 10 people, now that is a lot of money to waste.
should we invite them?
I told my FI if they do not RSVP i will not call them. If they show up well they will be embarassed because they will not have a table to sit at.
I hate people who do not RSVP
thanks for letting me vent

Re: My Shower a little long (vent)

I'm glad you had a wonderful shower and didn't let their absence ruin your day! In terms of inviting them to the wedding, I still think you should. Showers are interesting because they can be a little clique-ish is everyone there knows the bride and you don't really know the bride well, or everyone knows each other. I would invite them to the wedding but as you said not call them if they don't RSVP. I think you can give them one more chance to redeem themselves while the whole time keeping your head high. But if they don't RSVP then that's on them.

I agree.
While I think its really rude and disgusting what they did at your shower ( esp to not call after and apologize and come up with some excuse) I would be the bigger person and still invite them to the wedding. If they even tried to mention the shower I would act like I didn't even know they were supposed to be there.
If they don't rsvp, I wouldn't call and I would not count them in the final headcount. If they show up they will feel and look dumb with no place cards, no where to sit, and no dinner to eat.
