Re: Ugh! I have no clue who is going to marry us

My sister did a justice of the peace and he was good for $150.

We are using a reverand and paying him $350, which I did not think was that much

Good luck

We havent met our Rabbi either. He is on vacation right now and with less than 6 months to go, it might be nice to know him!

Re: Ugh! I have no clue who is going to marry us

We're having a civil ceremony and our reverend is charging us $375. Everyone else we went to was in the ballpark of $500 and up.

Re: Ugh! I have no clue who is going to marry us

me neither I keep putting this part off - it is a source of a bit of contention in my family cause I was raised Catholic but am having a ceremony at the reception site (FH is Catholic too so no hope of a dispensation )

Re: Ugh! I have no clue who is going to marry us

I hear ya!!! This is one thing I'm really stuck on. I can't see spending $500 for a half hour ceremony. I really want to use a reverend or reformed priest rather than a JOP, but the money is what's really keeping us from booking someone already!!!

Re: Ugh! I have no clue who is going to marry us

yes we clergy people do have high fees....
as a student cantor the fee for a wedding is $300. and as a cantor, my fee will be around $600.

i know it's alot, but you're paying for our time, skill and preparation time.

Re: Ugh! I have no clue who is going to marry us

i am using rev joseph devincenzo and it costs $500. you can't think of it like "$500 for a 1/2 hour", the ceromony is the most important part of the wedding! you don't want to have the best reception and have people say "the reception was great, but that ceromony was horrible/boring/tacky/etc". you want someone who is experienced and performs great at what they do! i love ours bc he is down to earth and very funny. he and his wife personalize the ceromony to each couple, so it is unique and personal. we meet with them in their home to go over everything and they are so sweet! its definitely worth the money in the end, jmo. good luck with your search! ~lacey

You know I agree!! I have told you this before. You love the person you were thinking of using. You will regret justice of the peace. I know you and I know that you want to walk down and isle and feel like a bride.

I can not believe how much it costs for clergy these days! I never thought I would do this, but I am actually considering just having a justice of the peace...I heard it's cheaper. That's not how I wanted it, but I guess you can't always get what you wanted. I honestly think my parents are going to be P.O.-ed at me if I do that. Anyone else doing the justice of the peace thing? How much are you paying?

I am using Reverand Salvatore Umana. I believe he's in Port Jefferson. He's charging us $400. If you want his number, FM me.

Re: Ugh! I have no clue who is going to marry us

I am stuck on this one too. I wanted a JP..but also want the ceremony to be a bit more personalized withought offending either religion at our wedding. Mine is Jehovahs Witnesses, and His are Catholic. i havent been motivated to even look for this!

Re: Ugh! I have no clue who is going to marry us

I haven't meet with anyone for my ceremony.

I called a couple of people and the prices were outrageous $1000, $750, $500.

It makes me feel better to see some of you got better deals.
