Ladies on the Pill -- have you/ will you mess with Mother Nature for your Wedding Day????

Okay so I've heard that you can just skip over the placebo pills and skip your period if necessary.

Well it looks like Aunt Betsy will still be spittin' fire on my wedding day and I'm thinking of chemically stopping her. Has anyone done this? Any side effects?

(btw -- yes I will check with my health care professional before I do this)

Yes! You just do not take the sugar pills. You start a new pack instead of taking them! My gyno has been doing it for years and she says its perfectly fine! You may have some spotting but no full visits with Aunt betsy!

Re: Ladies on the Pill -- have you/ will you mess with Mother Nature for your Wedding Day????

I've done this once...it worked...nothing BAD happened but i did have this continuous crampy feeling...like i should have it any second..which wasn't great. I don't know.

This prob sounds really bad but what i did starting months ago was to take one extra white pill every month until i had moved getting it to after we're back from the honeymoon. It worked great...but i know thats not recommended

Re: Ladies on the Pill -- have you/ will you mess with Mother Nature for your Wedding Day????

Thats what i love about the pill - you can plan your life around your period! When we were planning the wedding, i was able to figure out what weeks would be good for me and those were the days we looked at.

As for skipping the pills and starting a new pack, i've heard mostly good results with this but have not tried it myself. I do know that if you do this, you should try it for a few cycles beforehand incase it doesn't work. Everyone's body is different and what works for some may not work for others.

and of course, check with your dr. to see what they say as they know your history..

I did it twice in a row for my wedding and HM (three straight packs). Worked like a charm!

Re: Ladies on the Pill -- have you/ will you mess with Mother Nature for your Wedding Day????

I will. You skip the placebo pills and just start a new pack without any break. I haven't done it in years but it always worked in the past. I just confirmed with my gyno last week and he told me to go ahead

BTW, I never had any side effects, but the pill doesn't effect me badly anyway.

I went on Seasonale for this exact reason. Just be careful because I got some spotting the first month.

Re: Ladies on the Pill -- have you/ will you mess with Mother Nature for your Wedding Day????

I'm due fo mine, that day! But I hate taking pills or anything that messes with my hormones.
But I am the minority. And if you don't care if it changes anything than go for it!!!!

Re: Ladies on the Pill -- have you/ will you mess with Mother Nature for your Wedding Day????

I have done this several times.... while it works and i didnt have any crazy side effects, it just messes me up a little bit. I never spotted or got AF, I really didnt have cramps either, but it somewhat messed my timing up when i went back on it the regular way, I also got it really heavy for the following 2 months after skipping it. I just took myself off the pill last month because i skipped it 4 months ago, then the following 2 months I got it a week early each time so i just went off of it to somewhat re regulate myself.
I will DEFINITELY do it again if need be for the wedding though...

Re: Ladies on the Pill -- have you/ will you mess with Mother Nature for your Wedding Day????

I'm on continuous birth control pills, prescribed by my doctor b/c of painful cramping and probably endometriosis (which many women have and don't know it).

It took my body a while to get used to it. I had continuous spotting when I first tried it, and I needed a different brand of pill. Then, I decided to have a period one month, because my internist was worried about the length of time without a period. That month was fine, but I had to readjust again after that (some spotting the next month).

So now I'm back to continuous birth control pills. If you want to do it, start early to get used to it.
