Bridesmaids of different sizes

Hey girls,
I've got another dilema for you:

I have 5 bridesmaids and they are of all different sizes. Most of them are small and on the thinner side, while a few are on the larger side.

Do you have any suggestions where I may find a flattering dress for ALL my bridesmaids?

-Chelle

Re: Bridesmaids of different sizes

i would say try to get seperates it makes it alot easier...i have also known people who let the Bm pick the top they want in the seperates so that all of the girls are comfortable...m BM wanted to do this ...but being the Bridezilla i am refused, but i do think its a good idea

Re: Bridesmaids of different sizes

While my girls did vary...this dress flatters everyone...my suggestion is to do something with a chiffon overlay, and in a darker color...you can put the thinner ones in a lighter color to give a contrast....

my bm dresses were Jasmine Belsoie

Re: Bridesmaids of different sizes

All 3 of my BM's are of different heights and sizes...they all wore different dresses and IMO looked great.

Pics in my review...

My mom made 2 of them based on Jim Hjelm Occasions dresses...the 3rd BM wore a BCBG dress. Good luck!

Re: Bridesmaids of different sizes

I have a BP that ranges in size from 0-16. they are all picking Bill Levkoff 2-piece sets in Euro Navy. Having been a size 24 myself only three years ago, if a Bridezilla put me in a strapless dress or a dress that required specialty undergarments, I would have been unhappy and miserable. If you choose to honor the ones you love to participate in your special day, where is the honor when they are unhappy and uncomfortable? And I don't care what anyone says. If a dress is made in a 2 and a 32, the dress will NOT look as flattering on the bigger girl. I WAS the bigger girl - not fun.

Here are three of the 5 dresses THEY chose. They are happy. I am happy. (Unfortunately, the lighting in the pictures makes the fabric look different in each one but they are all the same)

Re: Bridesmaids of different sizes

I think this is the one but in a dark purple. I spoke to most of the girls and they ALL love it and think it's going to be fine. Since they all seem to think that it'll look flattering on them... why not?!

The best suggestion I can offer is for you to pick a designer and a color, and then let each girl pick the dress she thinks is the most flattering for her from the designer in your color choice.

Re: Bridesmaids of different sizes

I'm a larger size and I have been in a bunch of weddings so I can tell you from experience that I've always found that a-line dresses are the most flattering and that if it requires special undergarments like a strapless or backless bra then I've been uncomfortable. Hope that helps!

Re: Bridesmaids of different sizes

I have the same issue and ended up picking a dress that is similar. It was a bit of a pain, b/c you don't want to offend anyone and what will look good on my slimmer girls may not look right on my larger girls. Of my six bridesmaides 4 of them are super slim and two of them are a bit heavier. I am not sure if it makes a difference with what order I have them walk down in the ceremony, but I don't want to do it in 'size order'. Yikes!

Re: Bridesmaids of different sizes

I have a BM who is overweight, she says that spagetti strapes 'cut into her shoulders' so she preferred strapeless. It looks good on every size.

Re: Bridesmaids of different sizes

I had the same problem! We just ordered our bm dresses today from David's Bridal. Some of my girls are heavier while a few are super skinny. I ordered the 1st dress for my sis (MOH) who is average size. The other dress is what all of the bms are wearing, both super skinny and heavier. It looks amazing on all of them.

My Bridesmaids range from 2-26. A-line dresses usually flatter everyone.

Re: Bridesmaids of different sizes

I am in the same situation. I must say that the strapless 2 piece gowns are very flattering.
I myself am thin and I tried on one of the BM dresses that I might pick and I looked super skinny.
