NWR: School Districts
How do you determine what school district a home is zoned for? Is there a website or something that might help?

I'm looking at a home in Nesconset and it says Sachem but how do I find out if 1) that is correct and 2) what elementary and so forth would that be?

Re: NWR: School Districts
Thank you - I attended Sachem so of course I think highly of it but what I am concerned about is whether this particular home is in the Sachem school district or Smithtown...both are good in my opinion I just need to know which one it really is. The home seems to border the Smithtown/Bookhaven line.
Wait didn't like the way that sounded...what I meant was I attended Sachem and remember that at the time it was a very good school...happy to hear it still has a good reputation.

Re: NWR: School Districts
You can call the town hall. They will have it on file. Or call the receiver of taxes.

Re: NWR: School Districts
Thanks everyone. From all the help I was able to determine that the road this house is located on is cut in half by bountry lines. This house is in the town of Smithtown and the school looks to be Sachem. Funny how a street can be divided into two towns.

Re: NWR: School Districts
so does that mean you are paying smithtown taxes for sachem schools?
ETA - that may be a good thing - isn't sachem due this year for a 17% increase. Smithtowns budget was voted down twice right?

Re: NWR: School Districts
Good point...that's what I am trying to research now. How can it be that our kids would attend a school where we don't even pay taxes? You know in a round about way?

Re: NWR: School Districts
Hey ang, I think you may be better off in the sachem district. I like smithtown alot but I think sachem may have more to offer. although its not the same anymore. so many changes since we went.
