NWR-Bar or Restaurant in Park Slope or NYC for a 30 birthday party??

Hi! My sister's looking to throw her DH a b-day party in December, and she's somewhat new to the area, she's figuring about 50 people, open bar, and some light food, hors de ourves, or maybe we could bring in a hero if the place doesn't do food....anyone have any suggestions??

Not sure how many people it holds, but the 12th Street Bistro is a great place. It has a restaurant and seperate bar. Might be a bit pricey, but worth a look. It's on the corder of 12 St. and 8th Ave. Also, try brooklyn.citysearch.com to browse places. It may even have suggestions for good party venues.

12th Street bistro is a little small for a party of 50- you may take up the whole place, but call them. the food is pretty good.

hmmm...it depends on what kind of party/food you are looking for. there is a large crop of new places, so it will be easier if I know what to look for...italian, american bistro, etc. I live in PS, actually VERY close to 12th bistro and I have lived in the nabe my whole life so I pretty much know it well.

What about Loki?

does Loki serve food? I went there, but just to drink (how strange LOL)

200 fifth is pretty big and can accommodate a large party. Marco Polo has excellent food and has an upstairs party area. trying to think of others.

My sister lives on 12th street, near the entrance to prospect park...she wasn't really too concerned with what kind of food, alcohol is much more important in my family , she did want some munchies, and someplace with an open bar that would carry all kinds of alcohol. It doesn't have to be anything fancy, definetly not sit down....I'll tell her to check out 12th street bistro and see what they say...

I THINK they are pretty much ALL sit down....what about 2 boots, or 200 fifth (Again since it's a pretty big bar)

funny, I live on 12th street too...just further down....
